Windows 10’s latest update causing BSOD again
If you have recently experienced BSOD’s or Blue Screen of Death when trying to print, the most probable cause is the latest Windows 10 update. According to reports from various forums, Windows 10 users started experiencing BSODs right after they have installed the latest Windows 10 update KB5000802.
Initially, it appeared that only users with Kyocera printers have BSOD issues, but lately more and more users that are using different printer models including Ricoh reported the same issues.
If your PC is affected a blue screen error message will display the following error message:
APC_INDEX_MISMATCH for win32kfull.sys
As always, removing the update KB5000802 should solve your printing issues, but on the other hand, might expose your system to security vulnerabilities that were patched with that update. Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and is working on the fix. The company also said that the bug affects Type 3 printer drivers while it doesn’t affect Type 4 printer drivers.
Until the fix is released you might check which printers will not cause you the BSODs by detecting its Driver Type.
From the Windows 10 Start Menu type Print Management
Click on the Print Management app and in the left pane select Custom Filters | All Printers
In the right pane check the Driver Type for each printer installed on your system.
Thanks for the information
