Microsoft is working on a feature for its widely-used web browser, Microsoft Edge, that should allow users to manage how much memory the browser consumes.
According to a post by @Leopeva64 on X, a new section has been added to the browser’s Settings page. Under System and Performance, there’s a setting named “Control how much RAM Edge can use.”

This feature can be activated either exclusively during gaming sessions or at all times. The description warns that setting a low limit may affect the browser’s speed. Currently, this feature is available in Edge Canary, the browser’s experimental channel, for select insiders in a controlled rollout. Therefore, even if you’re part of the channel, you may still not have access to it.
Unlike Edge, Chrome browser may display the RAM usage for individual tabs, but it doesn’t offer a feature to directly control the browser’s memory usage.
Additionally, Microsoft is testing a new improvement for its Game View feature within Edge. Users will soon have the option for the panel to automatically launch when switching between gaming and browsing windows.
