Microsoft and Google pauses browser updates
Because of the ongoing Coronavirus crisis, Microsoft and Google will pause updates for their popular browsers Edge an Chrome.
The Chrome team will, therefore, skip the release v81 for Chrome by leaving it in the beta channel.
Microsoft Edge browser which follows the releases of Chromium engine also plans to stick with Chromium 80 for some time. The current stable channel for Edge is v80.0.361.66 while the beta channel version 81.0.416.28 will be postponed for the stable release.
In light of the current circumstances, the Edge team will pause updating the Stable channel to Edge 81 consistent with the Chromium Project. We are committed to continued security and stability updates to Edge 80. We’ll have more to share on this next week. https://t.co/nWfm87MEK2
