Microsoft has revealed its plans for the upcoming launches of Office LTSC 2024 and Office 2024, targeting customers with specific needs for long-term servicing. Office LTSC 2024 will enter its commercial preview phase starting next month, followed by a full release later in the year.
LTSC, or Long-Term Servicing Channel, refers to Microsoft Office or Windows intended for situations where stability and limited updates are important. Those situations are usually found in critical systems like air traffic control and power plants, where constant operation is essential.
In Office LTSC 2024, users can expect new features such as improved meeting options, improved search features in Outlook, and many other Excel functions. Additionally, performance, security, and accessibility have also been upgraded. However, Microsoft Publisher is being retired, while Microsoft Teams will be available separately.
Office LTSC 2024 operates under a device-based “perpetual” license supported for five years under the Fixed Lifecycle Policy. For consumers, Office 2024 will also be released later this year, following a one-time purchase model with support for five years. There should be no change in pricing upon release.
