Microsoft is expanding Copilot’s capabilities by integrating it with OneDrive, specifically within the file viewer. Soon, users will be able to access Copilot features directly through OneDrive.
Scheduled for release next month (April 2024), this feature is set to be initially released on the web platform, but only for users with a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license, as indicated on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap site.
Upon clicking the AI-powered assistant icon, it activates the Copilot chat window, enabling direct analysis and information extraction from OneDrive and SharePoint files.

Copilot for Microsoft 365 represents the premium tier, aimed at businesses and organizations rather than individual use. Priced at $30 per user/month, it includes all features found in personally designed Copilot Pro and extras like Copilot for Teams, Copilot Studio, and more.
On the contrary, the free Copilot functions as a side-panel chatbot. And even though it lacks AI integration in Microsoft 365 apps like Word and Excel, it still allows users to create images, summarize paragraphs, and perform web searches.
Copilot Pro, available at $20 per month (the same cost as Perplexity Pro and ChatGPT Plus), is the paid version of the free Copilot. It offers AI features in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, early access to OpenAI’s latest models, and the option to use custom Copilot GPTs.
