Microsoft unveils a new logo for its Chromium Edge browser

Microsoft has just unveiled a new logo for its new Chromium-based browser Edge.

Even though the new Edge is still in beta, Microsoft confirmed that it’s close to being finished and will replace the existing version of the Edge browser.

As you might already know, the new and fully improved Edge has been built from scratch on the same Chromium foundation as Google Chrome. The new Edge logo wasn’t unveiled in a conventional way, it was hidden behind a series of puzzles and clues posted online by Microsoft employees.

Once puzzles were completed, a short online surfing game appeared which well reminds of a SkiFree, a classic skiing game that was released as part of Microsoft’s Entertainment Pack 3 for Windows back in 1991. After finishing the surfing game a new stylish-looking icon was revealed.

The new logo perfectly fits with the company’s refreshed Office icons. It contains green and blue colors and reminds of a wave while still showing the letter “E” which could mean “surfing with Edge” :).

We can safely assume that Microsoft could officially announce its new browser at the Ignite conference in Orlando scheduled for the next week as stable release recently leaked online.
