Netflix is partnering with Mojang, the creators of Minecraft, to create a new animated TV series based on the hugely popular sandbox game. Announced via a short teaser on its social media channels, Netflix revealed it is developing a show set in the blocky world of Minecraft, which Mojang and Microsoft own.

Specific details about the series are limited now, with no confirmed release date or voice cast. However, a news post on the official Minecraft website provided some insights. It mentioned that the series would not include Steve, the game’s well-known character, and highlighted the animation studio responsible for the project.

“The series will feature an original story with new characters, offering a fresh take on the Minecraft universe. The talented team at WildBrain, known for Sonic Prime, Ninjago: Dragons Rising, and Carmen Sandiego, is leading the development.

This Minecraft series is part of Netflix’s expanding lineup of animated productions. Another upcoming release, Ultraman: Rising, will premiere on June 14, showcasing Netflix’s ongoing commitment to high-quality animated content.
