Microsoft has just rolled out Windows 11 build 26252 for Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel, featuring new additions and improvements.
A key highlight of this update is the “Weather and more” feature that allows users to view widgets on their lock screen, providing quick access to information about the weather, finance, traffic, and sports. The widget cards have received design enhancements, such as better blur effects, optimized fonts, card sizing, and spacing.
Another new feature involves the taskbar. Users can now pin apps directly to the Taskbar by dragging them from the Start menu, a functionality not previously available.
The “Weather and more” widgets can be activated on the lock screen by navigating to Settings | Personalization | Lock screen. This provides dynamic updates on your lock screen, helping you to stay informed and up to date with the latest info.
Additionally, apps in the Start menu can now be pinned to the taskbar by dragging them from the pinned section. This simplifies the process of accessing frequently used apps.
The Settings menu also sees new additions. The evaluation copy expiry date is now shown under Settings | System | About. A new energy recommendation is also being rolled out under Settings | Power & battery | Energy recommendations, suggesting users to turn off HDR to conserve energy on HDR display PCs.
This update also comes with several fixed issues. The complete list of updates can be found on the Windows Blog.
