Voicemeeter causing crashes in Windows 11 Version 24H2
Windows 11 version 24H2 is a major update that brings many new features, but it also comes with more issues. One of the serious problems affects users who have the audio management app Voicemeeter installed on their system. After updating, these users are experiencing system crashes, resulting in the blue screen of death (BSOD) with the MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error code. This issue stems from a compatibility problem between Voicemeeter’s driver and the memory management system in Windows 11 version 24H2.
As a result, Microsoft has taken action by blocking the update on devices that have Voicemeeter installed. If you use this app, you won’t see the option to upgrade to version 24H2 when you check for updates. This block is in place to prevent crashes and system instability. Microsoft strongly advises against manually forcing the update using tools like the Installation Assistant or Media Creation Tool. For those who want to proceed with the update, the only current solution is to uninstall Voicemeeter and its components. Once uninstalled, the block may take up to 24 hours to be removed, after which the update should become available.
For users who rely on Voicemeeter and prefer not to remove it, the best option is to wait. The app’s developer, VB-Audio Software, is expected to release an updated version that resolves the compatibility issue, and Microsoft has promised to provide updates once a fix is available.
This issue with Voicemeeter is not the only one affecting Windows 11 version 24H2. Other known bugs include apps freezing when using the integrated camera and problems with certain Asus devices, some of which are currently blocked from receiving the update as well. Before making the leap to the new version, checking the full list of known issues is important to avoid unexpected disruptions.
