After the release of Windows 10 April 2018 update, users started reporting issues with Google Chrome browser.
Apparently, Google Chrome browser is freezing up for many users, but Microsoft has confirmed the issue and the fix should be included in the next Tuesday update on May 8th.
Along with Google Chrome freezing issues, some users reported Windows 10 lock-ups. During the Windows 10 lock-up, the system becomes unresponsive and won’t respond to any keystrokes, not even CTRL-ALT-DEL command.
The system can only be restarted using the restart button or it can be put into a sleep mode and once woken it will become responsive again.
Microsoft has replied to post in the Microsoft forum and said that the problem might also happen with “Hey Cortana” prompts. Microsoft recommends the following steps without the need to force reset or put the computer to sleep mode:
Try a Windows key sequence to wake the screen. If you have a keyboard connected, simultaneously press the Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B. If you’re on a tablet, simultaneously press both the volume-up and volume-down buttons, three times within 2 seconds. If Windows is responsive, a short beep will sound and the screen will blink or dim while Windows attempts to refresh the screen.
Some users also reported that updating Google Chrome to the latest stable version (66.x) has fixed this issues for them.
