Windows 11 24H2 faces another bug
Microsoft recently disclosed a significant issue with Windows 11 24H2 that could prevent users from receiving future security updates. This problem arises if the operating system was installed using physical media, such as a USB drive or CD, between October 8, 2024, and November 12, 2024.
Devices affected by this bug cannot download new security patches, leaving them vulnerable to emerging threats. However, Windows Update or the Microsoft Update Catalog installations are unaffected.
According to Microsoft, the issue occurs when the installation media includes the October or November 2024 security updates. To avoid this problem, users should download the latest version of Windows 11 24H2, which consists of the December 2024 update, from Microsoft’s official website.
Microsoft is working on a fix for those already impacted and will provide updates soon.
Since its release on October 1, Windows 11 24H2 has been plagued by bugs. Microsoft has issued three patches to address these issues, but new glitches keep appearing. The October and November updates resolved some problems while introducing others. The December patch fixed a USB-related issue, but stability remains elusive.
Until these issues are fully resolved, it’s wise to hold off on upgrading to Windows 11 24H2.
