Windows 11 Update issues with version 24H2

If your Windows 11 computer has recently failed to update, there could be a specific explanation. A German tech website revealed that the upcoming Windows 11 version 24H2, currently being tested by Windows Insiders, contains a wide list of apps that can prevent updates. One app worth mentioning is StartAllBack and other commonly used tools.

According to reports from DeskModder.de, Microsoft has included a file in the major 24H2 update that blocks installation if it detects eleven specific applications on the device. These apps include various utilities like EaseUS Disk Copy and interface customization tools like StartAllBack. Some entries on the list are widely used, like EaseUS, while others are very specific, such as Multi-Mon, which is blocked only if Copilot is also installed.

Although users have found ways to work around these blocks, such as uninstalling StartAllBack temporarily, it’s clear that certain UI-heavy apps have historically caused issues with new Windows updates. The public release of Windows 11 version 24H2 is scheduled for later this year, and it seems Microsoft is using this opportunity to ensure compatibility and stability, potentially removing or adding to the list of blocked applications as the preview period progresses.
