Windows 11 update makes searching easier

Microsoft makes it much easier to find system settings in Windows 11 by allowing users to search using everyday language. With the latest update to Windows Search, there’s no longer a need to remember the exact name of a setting or menu. This improvement is being rolled out in Insider builds on Copilot+ PCs, specifically in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3863 (Beta Channel) and Build 26200.5551 (Dev Channel).

If you type something like “change my theme” or “about my PC” into the taskbar search box, Windows will take you directly to the relevant settings. Thanks to the powerful neural processing units (NPUs) built into Copilot+ devices, it even works without an internet connection. These NPUs can handle over 40 trillion operations per second, enabling fast and efficient offline processing.

This update enhances the way Windows interprets natural language, so your searches don’t have to be exact. The system understands your meaning, even if your phrasing isn’t perfect. This smarter search experience is limited to Copilot+ PCs, but a broader release is expected shortly.

A screenshot shared in the Windows Insider blog shows how it works in real time: a user types a simple phrase, and the correct settings page is instantly displayed. Anyone with a supported Copilot+ PC can try it out by updating to the latest Insider build.

In addition, the latest Insider updates also improve the Narrator tool, including better image descriptions, making Windows even more accessible for everyone.
