The discovery was announced yesterday by a team of European astronomers, using a telescope in La Silla in the Chilean Andes. The Earth-like planet that could be covered in oceans and may support life is 20.5 light years away, and has the right temperature to allow liquid water on its surface. The new planet, which orbits a small, red star called Gliese 581, is about one-and-a-half times the diameter of the Earth. It probably has a substantial atmosphere and may be covered with large amounts of water - necessary for life to evolve - and, most importantly, temperatures are very similar to those on our world. It is the first exoplanet (a planet orbiting a star other than ou…

  5. Dear forum owners, I kindly ask you to improve this forum by banning abusers whose links lead to sites like Adfly. As I and many other people will not go to such sites, posts with links to them are more or less useless and should be considered spam. And spammers should always be treated like the greedy [censored] they are: tarred, feathered and then banned. Regards, Oshi

Hi guys, I need a favor from you all who'll read this topic. We have to test ping response times on two servers and I need your help on this. So here's what you should do.. Open a command prompt (Start-->Run-->CMD+Enter) Type ping 208.73.33.194, write down this info: Minimum = xx ms, Maximum = xx ms, Average = xx ms Repeat the action for the second address Type ping 74.52.38.226, write down this info: Minimum = xx ms, Maximum = xx ms, Average = xx ms Check and paste your results here. If anyone wants to know, we're testing the new server. This is the first step and better ping will not guarantee us faster access, it depends on the server hardware too. That's somethi…

Hey fellas, I've just opened my PC case, for the first time since I bought it, so approximately 6 months. Although I have Thermaltake Kandalf case which uses dust filters, it was still very dusty inside. After I've vacumed the dust from coolers, I've used compressed air to blow away the dust inside the box. Anyway, I wanted to ask you guys, how often do you clean your PC box and do you dismantle every piece of it before you start with cleaning.. How often do you change your processor cooling paste? Do you clean your memory connectors with a rubber eraser? If you have any useful information regarding this, please reply

I was tired of having jobs and wanted a career. I am a jack of all trades. I was a mechanic, house framer, mason, remodeled homes/apt., did HVAC, plumbing, electrical etc. I went to school for electronics and computers to have a career in something that will always be around and not seasonal, something also that I could always excel at that wouldn't be a dead end.

The ground outside was like standing on a water bed and somebody on the other end pushing up and down trying to knock you off, I could barely stand up I have been in hurricanes & allot of small earthquakes (we feel them all the time) this is a much worst experience, at least with hurricanes you can prepare

  25. OK, I saw this posted on EOCs. Hold onto your hyperthreaded horses, because this is liable to whip up an angry mob -- Intel's asking customers to pay extra if they want the full power of their store-bought silicon. An eagle-eyed Engadget reader was surfing the Best Buy shelves when he noticed this $50 card -- and sure enough, Intel websites confirm -- that lets you download software to unlock extra threads and cache on the new Pentium G6951 processor. Hardware.info got their hands on an early sample of the chip and discovered it's actually a full 1MB of L3 cache that's enabled plus HyperThreading support, which translates to a modest but noticeable upgrade. This is…
