HashTab is a Windows shell extension which adds a tab called "File Hashes" to the Windows Explorer file properties. The tab contains the MD5, SHA1 and CRC-32 file hashes. These are common hashes that are used to verify the integrity and authenticity of files. Many download sites list the MD5 hash along with the download link. The HashTab makes it very simple for Windows users to check these hashes on any file on the system without using external tools. The screenshot to the right shows an example.

Just a heads-up, but version 2.0.4 has already been released (that was kinda fast, coming from 2.0 ;)).

[11/18/2007] 2.0.4 hotfix released A hotfix for the 2.0 release is available here. This hotfix contains the following changes:

Fixed hash settings listbox layout

Fixed spelling error on the main dialog

Fixed a problem when cancelling and resuming hashing on large files

Added Greek, Italian, Russian and Japanese UI translation

Fixed a bug when trying to hash an external file for comparison

Fixed the reset button in the hash settings dialog

Fixed a potential deadlock when closing the dialog during a hash operation

Fixed a problem where the hashes were being recalculated if you press enter in the compare text box

Fixed a problem with the installer on 64-bit windows where the Add/Remove programs entry was not being removed correctly

when i used this, i went into the hash tab and there was no "hashs" selected to display. So I had to right-click, goto settings, and check which ones to display. Anyway to have them displayed by default?

In my personal addon, i have a HashTab.AddReg section in the inf... (Learned it from Xable) :)

[HashTab.AddReg]

HKCU,"Software\HashTab\Algorithms\MD5","Enabled",0x10001,1

HKCU,"Software\HashTab\Algorithms\SHA-1","Enabled",0x10001,1

HKCU,"Software\HashTab\Algorithms\CRC32","Enabled",0x10001,1

These are the 3 I choose to have shown by default...... You can have just one or ALL...
