    New Rig

Should I buy another MBO considering, as you said, that Intel won't be releasing top-spec CPU's for 1156 socket MBO's. Should I go with socket 1366, although those are still to expensive. So you're saying that this processor is much better than my current one Intel Quad Q6600. As for the graphic card, I can only see that HD 5870 is 3x more expensive than Nvidia GTS 250. Similar ATI card I can get for the money is HD 5750 or HD 5770. As for DVD drive, I really don't need the Lightscribe support, but I will check that Samsung.

I have the opportunity to sell my current machine: MBO ASUS P5E, X38/ICH9R Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 BOX, (4×2.4GHz, 1066MHz, 8MB, Kentsfield) Corsair 4GB, 2x2GB, 800 MHz DDR2, XMS2-6400 2x128Mx64non-ECC 240 DIMM, unbuffered, 5-5-5-15, 64Mx8 DRAMs,Two matched CM2X2048-6400C5DHX modules, TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX nVidia XFX GF8800GT/512MB/Dual DVI/PciEx 600M so I plan to buy myself something new. As I'm not much into hardware lately, I've got some recommendations on my new machine, so I'd like to hear a word from you guys. So far, I got myself a new case and power supply. Antec P183 Midi Tower Case Corsair HX650W Modular PSU Here's what I plan to buy.. Asus P7P55D MBO Intel Core i5 750, 2,66 GHz, Quad Core Corsair XMS3 TR3X6G1600C9, 6GB, DDR3 NVidia XFX GTS250, 1GB LiteOn IHAS124 DVDRW What should I change from the list? BTW. I currently have Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-212, should I replace it with LiteOn or even Plextor, which is more expensive, or just to stick with Pioneer? Cheers. Mr_Smartepants suggested ATI. For the price I can get HD 5770 instead of HD 5870, so I will take this into consideration. http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/products/graphiccards/HD%205000series/5770.aspx
  3. Thanks Reaper, I didn't know that :/ Seems that my theme pack will be huge as I have a lot of HQ wallpapers in it
  4. If I'm correct, you can safely go with the MBO I have. It is a ASUS P5E. Since it is more than 2 years old now, it shouldn't be very expensive. http://asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=cPrufUGXUlY9OsYv

    Fanless UPS

That's a monster Nice one. Well, the fan shouldn't work always on mine, but for some reason it does. I've talked to my friend yesterday, who runs an UPS maintenance company. Since he only has Eaton products, he will give me 5110 model for testing http://powerquality.eaton.com/Products-services/Backup-Power-UPS/5110.aspx?cx=53 Also, since EATON bought MGE, this one seems good too: http://powerquality.eaton.com/Products-services/Backup-Power-UPS/Ellipse-MAX.aspx?cx=53 I will get the 5110 model next week and the most important thing is that it has AVR which is automatic voltage regulation with buck and boost.

    Fanless UPS

I have a Powerware 5115 UPS which is great, but it's fan is too loud and never goes off. http://powerquality.eaton.com/Products-services/Backup-Power-UPS/5115.aspx?cx=53 Can anyone recommend good PSU, similar to the one I have, but if possible, to not have any fans.
  9. Yeah, I would always choose Corsair memory and PSU.
  10. You can add such an icon by creating a .rc file and add that one to your project. Make sure that the icon file (.ico) resides in the same directory. That .rc file (myapp.rc) looks like.
  11. I've reported this issue and apparently this problem has been already reported and classified as critical. http://community.invisionpower.com/tracker/issue-20461-the-session-id-problem/ If this is the problem, we'll have to wait for the next update of our board software.

  13. Yes, I was contacted to post this on the frontpage, but I've seen that bill21 has joined to post this and vanish forever! Thank you for the info.
  14. Let's check if I get you right. When you click yellow link as shown in the picture, the browser will open your post instead of 'last post' from 5eraph? I am also using Google Chrome, but beta version 4 and it links me to 5earph post when I click on the yellow link. Although, it was working normally for me when I was using latest stable version of Chrome. I've also checked in IE. When you click on the small arrow before the date, that link should open the last UNREAD post. When you click on the topic name link under it, that link should open the first post in the topic, at least when you hover over those links it should work this way. Anyway, if you still have issues, as you both said, can you please make a brief description with screenshots and I will open a ticket with my support. Regards, Nik
  15. Hi to all, I am using Corsair VX550W PSU for 2 years now and all I can say that IT ROCKS! I've recently changed my chassis and since my PSU is now separated from the motherboard in the means of another chamber (Antec P183), I have 3rd Hard drive in the same chamber and PSU. Since this is a mid tower and I don't have much space as in the big tower, I've decided to go with the modular PSU. I was looking at the HX520W since I think it should be sufficient for my current setup, but not sure if it will be enough if I decided to upgrade my components. I was looking at HX620W which is a bit too expensive for me, but then I've found out that HX650W is available and is even cheaper than HX620, at least here in Croatia, but I don't get why??? Is HX620W offering something more than HX650 to justify the bigger price? Explanation and recommendations are highly appreciated. Here's my current system specs: MBO ASUS P5E, X38/ICH9R Intel Quad Core Q6600 - 4 x 2.4 GHz Corsair 4GB, 2x2GB, 800 MHz DDR2, XMS2-6400 nVidia XFX GF8800GT/512MB/Dual DVI/PciEx 600M Creative Labs Audigy 4 24 bit Sound Card 3 hard drives (320GB + 200GB + 1500GB) Pioneer DVR-212BK DVD+RW/-RW/RAM, SATA Corsair v550W PSU
  16. This is a beast. Serves me very well. For instance, UT3 on highest settings, FPS is locked on 60fps which is a max.
  17. What do you think about lockerz.com Have you got invited, have you redeemed any of their prizes? Basically, is this a scam or what? Here's the info from another blog: I personally think it is a marketing scam. They need your opinions, thoughts, habits and your contact info and in return some of their members can claim prizes, but apparently not everyone who earn required PTZ or points.
  18. First post updated with qwesta's download link.
  19. I love NVidia and for that price range I would go with 9600GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500134&cm_re=9600gt-_-14-500-134-_-Product but, I'm not sure if this card is really good. I would recommend you the one I have, but I can't find it on the newegg. NVidia XFX 8800GT - this one is the beast and it takes only one slot in your case

    Silent PC Case

Yes, I admit you that you did mate. I have to say that I've seen the Corsair Obsidian 800D in shop and I didn't like it. The perfect case for me would be Tagan Black Pearl, but I just can buy it or order it here Although, when I see this picture, I think there isn't proper cable management available in it, which is a big minus, but that is an old case too. http://www.failratio...earl/opened.jpg Update: I've just checked the Tagan site. It seems that they're offering just PSU now. I don't see any chassis available

You gotta be joking )) This case is probably for micro ATX boards

    Silent PC Case

Kandalf was huge, and it was a piece of cake to install components in it, but no cable management, no sound isolation etc. I would buy Corsair Obsidian 800D, but it is too expensive and I can't understand why did Corsair put the hot swap for SATA disks. This feature surely rises the price for 20-30%. What I need now is a modular PSU, since my third drive is in lower chamber with the PSU and bunch of thick cables. Can't get much air in there..

    Silent PC Case

Ok, here we go. I've finally moved all of my parts to my new Antec P183 chassis. For a start, I am aware that I have kind of 'downgraded' my PC chassis by switching from Thermaltake Kandalf (Big Tower) to Antec P183 (Mid Tower), so I knew I didn't have to expect the chassis of the same size. Once I've unpacked the chassis, I was surprised with its build quality. This chassis looks far better in live than on the pictures. Pros: Power supply is located in a separate chamber for better heat isolation of the second one where MBO resides. I like the look and build of the front panel door, although several reviews said those are pretty bad as they're mad from plastic. Three layer sound-deadening side panels and front door which consists of aluminium-plastic-aluminium which helps to dump noise. Front door has some nice air vents from both sides which improves airflow into the chassis. Cable management is excellent as you can see in the pictures. I've managed to hide my cables so I have better airflow in the components area. HDD cages are pretty cool and I especially like the silicon grommets which prevents disk drivers vibration. It is very quiet if you set the fans to low speed. Medium and High speed changes everything Cons: This case is small!!!! Whatever other reviews say. I barely managed to connect the PCI-E power connector to my graphic card, as you can see in the picture. There is NO space between the graphic card and Disk Drivers in the upper bay. I haven't noticed that I have an internal speaker in this chassis, as I haven't found the cable to connect it to my MBO. Dust filters give the impression that they won't 'filter' much dust. Thermaltake has much better dust filters than Antec (at least comparing Kandalf with P183). Fans get very loud if used on High speed setting. Anyway, I'd give it 7/10 grade. P.S. Now I feel sorry for not buying the modular Corsair PSU, even 520w.
