When you created the addon, did you make it x64?
-
Depends, some items such as Speech and Natural Languages are physically removed using the vLite method and does reduce ISO size.

DISM marks updates as 'Install Pending' which means they will be dealt with during Windows installation. When you remove a component, it will also remove the update and no updates will be shown for it via Windows Update either. I'm assuming when an update is going to be installed it will check whether 'Sticky Notes' has been marked as removed or not. I didn't develop DISM so i can't fully say how it works, but it works

Option to boost program speed by increasing CPU load
Legolash2o replied to someone_else's topic in OLD Threads
he is referring to 'Win Toolkit Options' > 'Misc' tab and the 3 priority options. -
It doesn't help that a company charges like $59 for a game which can be completed in less than a day, some new games i completed in about 6 hours

1GB = 1000MB 1GiB = 1024MiB Microsoft is the only company to use the 1024 because that's what they used before the Mebibytes and GibiBytes standard came in 1998. Yeah i've noticed google using 1024 :/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRavt0kGVZg

[Solved] "Windows could not configure one or..." error.
Legolash2o replied to upgrade's topic in Win Toolkit
I've made this into a new topic as it's a different issue than the other topic. Try just installing Windows with just updates and no reg tweaks, additions, images, etc... Thanks I will have to look at this in the morning as it's getting a bit late now. EDIT: I think other people had this issue. If anyone else does have this issue, then please feel free to join in this topic. -
WOW, thanks again. You can probably tell I didn't get a great grade for English at school EDIT: I've implemented them all. Thank you.

Do you use an unattended file? -
I can't believe everyone is wrong so far You won't believe me but the answer is actually 1000MB 1GB = 1000MB 1GiB = 1024MiB Microsoft is the only company to use GiB which is why HDD appear smaller than advertised, i.e. A 500GB HDD in Windows shows as around 465GB but if you check your HDD via linux or Mac is will show 500GB. As i said microsoft uses 1024 instead of 1000 like everyone else but confusingly they still show files/folders as GB/MB instead of the correct GiB/MiB. 500GB is around 465GiB, but Microsoft change GiB to GB which is incorrect.

Thanks, the more the merrier

Ok, this is quick and simple test to see who knows this answer. NO CHEATING!

I actually agree in some ways, i legally purchase stuff all the time but i end up removing the protection to make things easier. Take Settlers 7 for example, you need to be constantly connected to the internet in order to play the game, even singleplayer. Lose connection and BAM your game exits without saving. Users who had legally bought the game had all sorts of issues such as not being able to play the game (server down, no internet, disconnections, etc..) whilst those who 'downloaded' the game had no issues at all. So yeah companies do add too much protection, DRM, etc... So in the Settlers 7 situation, i purchased the game (legally) and then removed the protections because producers/developers add so much protection that it gives those who buy things legally a whole bunch of hassle and things such as DRM increases the price of the product. Personally i just think a serial key + have CD inserted whilst playing is enough protection. Companies spend so much on protecting their software and yet hackers break it within a week, seems a bit pointless and the money saved from pointless over protection can be passed onto the customers, therefore have more people buying the product.

Glad it helped.

Discussion with someone_else and wintoolkit ramifications
Legolash2o replied to someone_else's topic in Win Toolkit
Basically i just have a folder on the USB root with the drivers on (copy & paste), then use device manager to install them manually after install. If you integrate 100s of drivers into an image then: A. That will take a lot more time B. Take up a lot of space (bigger WIM, longer install, bigger ISO) C. more importantly computers will have drivers installed which are for other computers and will never get used. I have a directory in the USB root called 'Drivers' and then within that i have folders called LiamsDrivers, MumsDrivers, JimBob Drivers, ChuckNorris Drivers, etc... -
I'm guessing you have x64 Recovery Mode checkbox ticked?

be careful, you don't want to break any rules now

When do you get the error 'Error getting wim info'? I'm guessing you're using the AIO Disk Creator tool within Win Toolkit. does the error happen when you load your first image or 2nd image or when you click 'Create'. About the .msstyles thing, you would need to make a request in the 'Requests' sub-forum.

Choosing the right WIM for A-I-O Integrator
Legolash2o replied to someone_else's topic in Win Toolkit
Mine takes about an hour and half so it depends on your system spec and if your antivirus is turned off. I only integrate into the images i use the most so never into Home Basic, the only time i integrate updates into Home basic is if i'm about to install Windows on a computer which only has that license. Again, don't do all images, just the ones you actively use. It's a shame there isn't an ISO available with all updates integrated in them already. I would host it but i don't have the space or bandwidth but most importantly i don't think that legal. Yeah, it does help having a fast computer.
