Mozilla Firefox 136.0 AIO Silent Arabic/English/French
Mozilla published today the final build of the Firefox 136 open-source web browser for all supported platforms ahead of the March 4th, 2025, official release date, so it’s time to take a look at the new features and changes. Highlights of Firefox 136 include official Linux binary packages for the AArch64 (ARM64) architecture, hardware video decoding for AMD GPUs on Linux systems, a new HTTPS-First behavior for upgrading page loads to HTTPS, and Smartblock Embeds for selectively unblocking certain social media embeds blocked in the ETP Strict and Private Browsing modes. Of course, the new vertical tabs layout is the biggest new feature of Firefox 136, which lets users escape the traditional horizontal tabs layout. When enabling the Vertical tabs layout, you will be able to choose if you want to see the sidebar, where you can quickly access bookmarks, tabs from other devices, and more. There’s a new Browser Layout section in the General settings to enable or disable the sidebar. During the beta, you could also switch between Horizontal tabs and Vertical tabs, but these are gone in the final release and you can turn on or off the Vertical tabs layout by right-clicking anywhere on the toolbar or the sidebar. Firefox 136 also adds support for the PNG image format when copying images out of Firefox to allow the preservation of transparency, adds a Solo AI link in the More from Mozilla section in settings, disables the Cookie Banner Handling by default in Private Browsing, and cleans up the Firefox Labs section in settings only leaving the “Picture-in-Picture: auto-open on tab switch” and “Address Bar: show results during IME composition” features. It also expands the Firefox Data Collection and Use section in the Privacy & Security settings with new options to install and run studies if you want to try out features and ideas before they’re released to everyone, as well as to send daily usage ping to Mozilla if you want to help them estimate active users. For macOS users, Firefox 136 enables hardware-accelerated playback of HEVC video content, a new mechanism where some background tasks will be moved to lower power cores, which will result in less energy use and longer battery life, support for the text replacement feature in an input field by default, and LZMA compression for the DMG packages to reduce download size and installation time. For Android users, the upcoming Firefox 136 release introduces the ability to report website compatibility issues via the Web Compatibility Reporting Tool, which can be accessed from the “Report broken site” option in the three-dot button menu while on a browser tab, and the ability to detect if the software keyboard supports autocorrect. For web developers, Firefox 136 adds Codemirror 6 support for the Developer Tools debugger editor, support for the Intl.DurationFormat object, support for the :open CSS pseudo-class, support for the :has-slotted pseudo-class, support for the CookieStore API, and support for sending referrer from meta refreshes and Refresh headers. It also adds support for ARIA elements reflection, support for sending multiple simultaneous versions of the same source over WebRTC with the H264 video codec, support for sending and receiving the AV1 video codec over WebRTC, and the ability to specify the plaintext-only value for the contenteditable attribute.
