hey this is really nice thx,ill try it tomorrow and prolly add an addon to wincert for the integrator. but im wondering, since this patches the majority of the files in i386,if this gets integrated along other addons ,specially an update pack witch updates the source via the rvmtemp dir....this addon should prolly be ran on a 2nd session to ensure patching.

ah,you just unlocked why amnesia reported that regedit wasint getting patched. 1st post updated, fixed bat to add regedit.exe and delete the double :ntsd.exe label, this was also causing a skip in the order of process. thx Sm0k3r

im re-uploading it so it does contain it. about different themes/looks; the "basic" look will prolly always be derived from vista, but i would love to see modified resource packs that a user could just drag and drop into the current sfx. this way i think every one is happy and we can offer different styles than vista(some people may think; enough with the vista crap already).and with the coming of codename 7 ,im sure alot of new resources will come out and about.

well t0o late ive alredy chaged it http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=3842

ntos*.exe and ntkr*.exe iexplore.exe explorer.exe etc are usualy files being used,so appart from calling the batch at runonce while the number of system files being used are at their lowest, you can try killing explorer b4 starting the patch process.
-
great, well i think im done, this new version contains a complete theme replacement.but im not sure if the theme will appear correctly.i hope people can test.n e ways its wayyyy late and thats it for me. edit;also need to check if the new title.wmv plays or not at begining of oobe and also if anyone can suggest a good background tune to repalce the default one.
-
well i kinda like this name better cause it suits what it does well. and i hope in the future to offer different theme styles than only vista-like appearances.

well, thats sorta what i did by calling it 8.3...its between 8.2 and 8.4!loll but can you show me what you mean? edit; i made a new intro.wmv video, tell me what you guys think...its extremely simple tho http://rapidshare.com/files/126129538/intro.wmv.html also,on a funnyer note jsut drop these in ure i386 folder.i havint added lines to the batch to copy over the audio part of oobe; http://rapidshare.com/files/126130565/INTRO.WM_.html http://rapidshare.com/files/126130566/TITLE.WM_.html

if the outcome quality is better, ill prolly add them(yeah i had noticed that they were ****) also;i have noticed that not many users have said their preference towards amnesia's "poll" what do you think.and if you feel that any other resource should be added/modifyed ?

cheap-O-change log for V_ISO_b8.3.01; fixed issues: - wuaucpl.cpl and wuaucpl.cpl.mui dialog section has ben fixed thx to amnesia - remotepg.dll's icon #500 is now beign removed correctly thx to amnesia's help - all this results in sysdm.cpl to now appear flawlessly - small cosmetic changes in the batch file remaining issues: - icon resolution problems and um.. thats all i can think of right now. amnesia;i dont see any changes with the one i currently have,i had got it fromn this post and i re-cheked ,they are identical right down to the md5. stimpy;compressed and decompressed files are treated as followed;if an uncompressed file in the i386 dir exsists and is in the list of the files to patch, it will get processed and will result in a compressed file.if both(happens to me all the time ;de-cabed a file and forgot to recab/del it)are present, the uncompressed file will get picked up by the script and get processed, then will overwrite the allredy compressed version and of course deleting the uncompressed one.resulting in having only the newly cabed file present.and of cours if only cabed file exsist, process will continue as it did in the previous versions of the viso batch.

i know about xn reseditor, lol and also about its crashes.

alltho i should make the design "stretch firendly"lol and yesssss thx, those syntax is exactly what i was looking for. i tryed using %del% but it deleted the whole resource and didint have the outcome id hope for. edit;i just tryed it and it dosent work ;[ edit;deleting a specific icon didint work, i had to delete the whole section, but its just as good.remotepg.dll will finally be ok. im doing a virtual test ,if all is ok(remotepg.dll , wuaucpl.cpl and wuaucpl.cpl.mui )ill upload an updated version of the package.i dont know if we should either start a new topic or ask rick to update the 1st post,as it seems people dont read the last posts for any info or updates.... on an other note ..WTF; look at the 1st banner on ure right http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/ .... imagine having a start menu with dr phil's bald a$$ on it .... so for Oprah fans here it is; ok,my tests are done everything seems to be in order. DL:V_ISO_b8.3.01.exe MD5:3C489A0594B9A64A3C0F674B2D84382F *Dr.Phil's seal of approval start menu bitmap NOT included.lol

my bad,i just cheked my original source of wuaucpl.cpl and yeah ure right, but lol i wonder what happened with the one i have in my system32 folder,lol it dosent have it.and when cheking the updated tab it still worked. and yeah every thign looks ok,i think i ahve a couple things to adjust.and we\'ll have to find out wich resources are the culprit of: at first i though it was the x48 resolutions of the the said icons in shell32,but it may be x32 that are too big. edit; might be in xpsp2res.dll.res also;im trying to filter out all the [strings] and [message table] sections of the resources.i think they can come in conflic with the system specialy if the these sections are old and are different of the ones present in the files that are being patched.so if you find any let me know.(i think i prety much found and deleted all of them) and;can you verify what needs to be updated in;wucltui.dll.mui wucltui.dll and wuauclt1.exe so i can include it and if any other resources related to updates can aslo be updated.thx oh and here i thought id make a classic thing like u did;
-
wuaucpl.cpl >>> i realy dont think this need to be added the dialog, if you take the original,it dosent have this section. so after just applying the patch to wuaucpl.cpl.mui, evrything thing seems to be working A OK edit:does any one know how to delete a specific resource from a file ,i think its -delete ,but i would like to have an example of the syntax on a random file thats show how to delete lets say the icon section of the file.
-
u must be using the package from 1st post, ive removed the patching of movie maker.
-
hehahahaha, but maybe its the color of the text more than the message...heha.ill do a chek 1st and if driver packs is detected the message will appear instead. as for the problems(windows update cpl etc),ill begin cheking them right now,im on vacation so ill have time to chek it out. meanwhile, people who want the edited batch to no ask the same question over and over; http://rapidshare.com/files/125488437/V_ISO.bat.html and if you want to add the fixed regedit.exe.res (same as amnesia's link stated in his post earlyer); http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?act...ost&id=1039

ok after extensive testing i had to remove the edited dialog and its new icon from these resources; wuaucpl.cpl.res>>(shouldint have had the dialog patch at all) wuaucpl.mui.res wucltui.dll.res wuauclt1.exe.res wucltui.mui.res>>(was added both to script and as res, alltho its an "empty" res file i left it for update ease) it was breaking the ability to control at what times windows update should do its check. untill we figure out a workaround, ill re-release the viso package,i find it unaceptable to patch files that will break window's functionality(ie; the movie maker patch that i had previously removed had a well known issue to cause the program to complain about missing stuff).altho we all owe amnesia a huge thx for his work(the whole system cpl really looked damn nice) , im sure this will be quickly fixed. http://rapidshare.com/files/125309451/V_ISO_b8.3.1.exe.html MD5=183825B5C963D7B3949AAFD5D07FE571

also, can you change the time of updated in the 2 drop down lists? and do you remember where the deletion dialog is in the resfiles, cause the blue question amrk needs resizing.
-
can i see the res files you used?
