ok so this isint the first time i have an msi installer go crazy cause its temp files have ben deleted.its prety easy to fix it(poin it to the msi or arrange for the temp files not to be deleted) but i have no idea what would trigger thoses installers to chek for their temp files.i cannot find any reg entrie that would point to the missing file.the only work around ive found is that obviously u get ure sillent install to extract sumwhere so thta the temp file do not get cleaned up or deleted.ne ways thx if anyone has any ideas about this.

Microsoft security patch for sidebar - Vista only!
bober replied to pip22's topic in WPI, nLite and RVM Addons
1-u could have posted under the sidebar addon(most logical place) 2-malicious code will be aiming vista systems, dunno if xp users will be affected(who cares just dotn install crapy gadgets form unknown sources) 3-since when does 15 years of experiance have to do with anything?dosent make u post in the right places, and u seem to be easyly offended...usually those things are lerned over the years. 4-my 1st post wasint mean nor to offend you,u took it like u did and now im replying in the same way, sucks huh. -
or, it maybe because the inf isint in the %windir%/inf folder, u can open the addons archive and extract the sidebar.inf to " %windir%/inf ". then re try uninstalling.

1st, ure post isint an addon..lol so next time find the approprite section to post, 2nd KB943411 is for Windows Vista.ricks side bar is for alky ,a prog to emulate vista new fonctionality in xp. -
this is not an addon.......and this is in french.
-
this is not a true addon, nor is it a switchless.more like a tool or somehting.addons are compressed file that can be used with the rvm integrator or nlite.u should read the faq for guide lines on posting stuff in the right place.
-
well i dont think it can ever be possible as auto it send keys/commands to the open installer,if thers no window what will autoit look for when wanting to feed the installer the info it needs.maybe using silent switches would be the way to go instead of using auto it.

[Addon]Vista RTM bootscreen for SP3 builds 3264 - 5508
bober replied to hngovr1's topic in WPI, nLite and RVM Addons
realy its quite simple, the files are registered as KB940322 , but they are infact newer and are part from an other KB.and like i said, the way i explain would be the PROPER way of doing things.i dont want to hurt anyone by explaining this.sorry if ure offended. EDIT: and ithink WU will prolly detect that the KB hotfix concerning these files isint installed on the system, thus prolly makign the user re-dl the hotfix and replacing the mod'ed files by originals. but remember that i said this addon had problems, never said it wouldint work on first try. -

what makes you think these are x64 files? and i wouldint try this on an x64 system..lol just comon logic. ok and thers problems with this addon, ure adding KB940322 's cat info and reg entries instead of SP3 RC1 3264...u might want to change this, shouldint be that hard.....not evrything cant be copyed over and concidred a clean way to install(update) a new hotfix from an older one. -
shell32.dll would be the one ure looking for, altho of course their are others.but this is th main file witch contains most icons. @sull, i can see only 2 reasons why ure things arent change, u have hotfixes installer during the install of windows,or um dont apply viso at the very end b4 compiling ure iso.sp3 only updates files and prolly adds a couple too, but the point is, it updates shell32.dll wich is responsible for the vast majority of icon the user sees.so the version changes but is still "patchable' afterwards, i doubt theyd change the resource structure of the file.so thats why; 1-some kb hotfixes are ran durign the setup and NOT truley integrated(slipstreamed on the source)or 2 viso isint ran at the very last of the integration stages of ure image.

thx for looking into this.

i seem to be having a problem with this, the context menu addition blocks or disables of my options, for instance, if i r click a reg file, the 'edit' option isint available anymore.so i did some testing and manualy removed the teracopy entries in my registry and that seemed to do it.all my r clik extention were restored. ilooked further into this and even witht he original installer there is a problem,so maybe someone should elt the boys at Terracopy know about this, looks like an easy fix, prolly something to do with CLSID's having the same name as others.ow and uve got some misc entries in ure inf addreg section.
