I've used server 2008 as main os on my computer and windows xp as a dual boot system. My all frequently used programs worked fine on server 2008, also server 2008 seemed a lot better than xp to me. I have enabled its desktop experience and i was able to use aero wmp11 and a lot of other gui enhancements. But this was after all of customizations, all tweaks added. I've spent my days to discover facts about server 2008 and after days, i started to get errors about my drivers (my video card wouldnt run properly), and then i switched to vista. I'm sure i can edit its (vista's) settings and disable all unnecessary services, all unnecessart programs, i can spend my days again, to speed it up a bit more. But server 2008 didnt worth my spent time on it. Some of most frequently used things were disabled or removed from server 2008 edition. Media center (i guess why they removed it) was one of them. Also windows ultimate extras (they are good or bad, i like them) wouldnt install on server 2008, i'm a strong user of dreamscene. These all made me change my mind. All I can say is, M$ will stop supporting and hotfixing xp and then we will have to move a new operating system. I did it today :icon_cool: Just my own opinions. Cheers to all. :welcome:

hi kiki, sorry for late reply. Those updates which you uninstalled are superseeded by KB953838. There is no need to install them if you have KB953838 on your system. Only KB938127-v2 and KB953838 updates are needed for ie7, if you install them, there is nothing to install anymore I'm glad to hear that your problem has gone away, hope it wont happen again. Cheers

I have a 30GB iPod video edition. Using it for 3 years and still runs fine

I have switched to vista ultimate months ago, and i like it much. Cant use xp anymore I agree with runningfool, xp runs smoother than vista. But I love new gui and new features of course. There are tons of new enchancements. Also I've switched cos my machine can run it better now. On my old machine i was using xp, vista was slowing it much.

Hmm, as i understand from log files, the hotfixes dont install anything. They just run and make some unnecessary file backups. Lets try this once mate. First remove all those internet explorer 7 updates from your computer, including KB953838. Then install latest windows update software from here. And then, run the 953838 update with this command: Then restart your computer and check WU/MU again. And plase make a copy of 953838.log file from windows fodler, so we can know whats goin on Cheers
