No, you dont add prefetch files. Just add what program installs in programs dir or other dirs like windows or system32. Windows creates prefetch files itself.

Try this: Copy xthumbs.dll as "thumbs.dll" to dir "C:\WINDOWS\system32\ShellExt" Then run a cmd and navigate to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\ShellExt" type "regsvr32 thumbs.dll And its done Thanks for the addon rick, thats a great addition to windows xp.

It seems ur inf is ok. Try to rename that file to sth else. Maybe that helps.

You dont need the link in first post. Go to http://www.hosts-file.net/?s=Download and download the hosts.zip file. extract it. rename hosts.txt to hosts, and put it in ur i386 folder or in \Windows\system32\drivers\etc folder. Then restart ur computer. Thats all.

I did know that modifying hosts file boosts internet much, but it used to lock my computer come minutes after "first connecting to internet", as Angel 5 stated. But i didnt know that disabling dns service resolves this issue. Also after replacing my hosts file, one of svchost.exe services (in taskmanager) has became bigger than 30000 kb. Is it same at urs?
