[AIO] Microsoft Visual B/C++/F#/J# Redistributable x86/x64
RicaNeaga replied to ricktendo's topic in Installer Repacks
You're right, either something is very wrong with WU, either there's a new version of that kb. I got it in WU with this month's updates... -

[Slim] .NET Framework 4 Full x86/x64 (1-10-2016)
RicaNeaga replied to ricktendo's topic in Installer Repacks
If 4.5 is installed in windows 7, then 4.0 isn't needed. I can confirm this 100%. So a combined setup is useless. -
Drivers from boot.wim are needed for the boot of the windows install cd, and for the first phase of windows installation, and those from install.wim are needed for the second phase of windows installation (when devices are properly installedd). So probably you were wondering if you should leave that AIO option intact (drivers also going to boot.wim). So yes, leave it as is, checked.

Windows 7 Toolkit v1.4.0.x Feedback / Issues / Bugs
RicaNeaga replied to RicaNeaga's topic in Win Toolkit
Tried version .65 on a x86 environment, with x86 drivers. Everything if fine now (I've also detected the duplicate Areca driver), with one exception: the ENE USB Mass Storage 5.89.0.71 (that you can find here as an individual driver, and also you can see it's for windows 7), comes up yellow. This is only valid for the x86 version in an x86 environment, everything is fine in a x64 environment with the x64 driver. So once you fix this, consider this thread Solved... and also hoping that no bugs will come up... tweaks adding and Online driver tool request solving FTW! -
Online driver Installer can be run during windows installation process
RicaNeaga replied to RicaNeaga's topic in Win Toolkit
Yeah, totally acceptable, I was thinking to somehow mimic the driverpack tool for xp, that deploys before the second phase of windows install process, as I consider it to be close to perfection. But the same process during first logon, as you've said now, it's the way I firstly considered this, via Win Toolkit Runonce, as it's probably easier to implement. So I would be glad if this would be the current way the online driver integrator works, and if at some point someone would give you an idea about how to implement it before the second phase of win 7 install process, that's going to be perfect. -
Online driver Installer can be run during windows installation process
RicaNeaga replied to RicaNeaga's topic in Win Toolkit
Great! It would be ideal however to install those drivers earlier, before windows setup second part checks for the hardware devices and installs the needed drivers. Hope Kelsenellenelvian can help on this one, if it's possible to call such a tool during that period of windows 7 install process. -
It's great somebody else bumped my thread, and I've also edited my sub-request for that. My opinion is that the new Online Driver Installer request is the only big feature that really needs adding. XP images can have such a feature with driverpack's tool for xp, windows 7 images cannot. So Lego to the rescue! And tweaks adding... also eagerly waiting for those, before removing components.

Online driver Installer can be run during windows installation process
RicaNeaga replied to RicaNeaga's topic in Win Toolkit
Ok, let me rephrase my request after ricktendo & Mr_Smartepants intervensions, after seeing and updated version of your Driver Installer Tool, and after re-thinking the unsigned drivers problem - I've eliminated this sub-request since I've seen how having such drivers can generate BSOD's during boot (Microsoft's usual paranoia). So, for the current Driver Installer tool: 1. Make the current's Driver Installer Tool default option to install ONLY the needed drivers (present on the system). So drvinst is the only option; please keep the current ''secundary'' options to install ALL, and also to just copy them. 2. The current Driver Installer Tool needs to be idiot-proof - the uninstall section must skip by default adding to the present-on-the-system drivers list (driverstore list) those that are needed by the system, and have an advanced option to add all the drivers. For the new requested Online Driver Installer (that runs during windows installation process): 3. Make an option in AIO so that the ONLINE (NEW) DRIVER Installer (not AIO's DISM one) can run automatically (through W7T Runonce) before finalizing windows setup, with the ONLY option to install ONLY the needed drivers from a folder on the disk - who wants many drivers integrated in the offline image has DISM. I really hope a different kind of W7T Runonce can be run before the start of the second phase of windows installation, but first logon is also an option; For example Driverpacks tool for xp installs the drivers BEFORE the start of the second phase of windows installation, so before windows installation process installs the drivers needed on the system. 4. Make an option in ISO Maker to add a folder to the root of the iso / dvd (aka copy the drivers folder, that is detected by the W7T runonce and after it will install ONLY the needed drivers from that folder). -
[Slim] .NET Framework 4 Full x86/x64 (1-10-2016)
RicaNeaga replied to ricktendo's topic in Installer Repacks
Ok, let me put it another way: when 4.5 addon will be out, only xp users will be interested in downloading this addon. And more than 90% of them will only need Client version. So you'll force 90% of them either to repack this addon, either to use the Extended version, that has the ngen optimization routine implemented via the /ain switch. So I was thinking only of adding another switch, that combines client with ngen optimization - if you don't want to remove other switches it's not so important. I was just hoping you'll have the time to make it easier to use for XP users, since those are the only ones that are going to download it in the near future. Once again, not a request, it just made more logic to me, you're already spending alot of time here making many useful packs. -
Windows 7 Toolkit v1.4.0.x Feedback / Issues / Bugs
RicaNeaga replied to RicaNeaga's topic in Win Toolkit
Ok, can you make an exception for those (probably 5 ''unknown'') drivers I've sent you? I can't think of another solution... Once again... can you see a driver is skipped both in AIO and in Driver Installer in your build (x86 folder, x86 environment)? Or have you managed to fix this? -
Windows 7 Toolkit v1.4.0.x Feedback / Issues / Bugs

Weird then. Maybe you've changed something from build 61. How about the missing driver? Not happening with x64 in an x64 environment. -
Windows 7 Toolkit v1.4.0.x Feedback / Issues / Bugs
RicaNeaga replied to RicaNeaga's topic in Win Toolkit
NOT in AIO, in Driver Installer from tools 5 appeared in red. And it's not for XP that one, it's the equivalent for the x64 one, for x86, please remove the red bar. I can't try right now the test version, I'm on x64. Once you assure me it's ok for x86, and you'll release a final version, I'll reinstall an x86 windows 7 ant try it, probably tommorow. Sorry for this. -
Neah, I use Haozip, it unpackes anything. Ok, didn't know it compresses it more. Just checked it - 3.77 MB in .zip vs 2.80 MB in .7z. You're right.
-
Ok, redundant however, that tweak isn't working at all. And please delete it from KrX's post, or ''spoiler'' it, it's a killer for the scroll button And an important request: Please add to all the tweaks description the EXACT changes made by that tweak to the registry (the exact tweak copyable text). I know it's a dull request, but as Windows 8 is out, we can check the compatibility of those windows 7 tweaks easier in most cases, by testing them on a live system with a ctrl-c/ctrl-v classic option . Also, some tweaks are named differently out there in the www, so avoiding duplicate tweaks would be also easier (both when adding them in AIO, and also here, in this thread).
-
Not exactly a request or an issue... but how about packing your app in .zip fromat, and not .7z? .zip is opened by all unpackers out there, including support by defalt in iOS or windows 7. Not the case for .7z...

Windows 7 Toolkit v1.4.0.x Feedback / Issues / Bugs
RicaNeaga replied to RicaNeaga's topic in Win Toolkit
Ok. Seen them, ok everything, and don't have a request for no. 9. It just seemed more logical to me, I don't reallty care about it however. But please don't hurry with no. 7 and check the x86 drivers I've sent you in an x86 environment, both in AIO and in Driver Installer Tool. Thanks. Oh, and hopefully you'll get to add those tweaks sooner than later... I've been waiting for them for ages -
Windows 7 Toolkit v1.4.0.x Feedback / Issues / Bugs
RicaNeaga replied to RicaNeaga's topic in Win Toolkit
Ok, I continue this thread / list (and hope you don't ignore Lego the very old / but also very actual previous post) with other minor / major issues. 5. Screenshot taking feature in Driver Installer (Tools), build 57 and also build 61, is very buggy. If an error appears, if I click on the Save Screenshot button (as you can see here), the app freezes and I have to stop the Win Toolkit service from the Task Manager and re-open it. 6. BTW, it's ''some drivers were not installed'', not ''where''. Same screenshot. 7. In an x64 windows 7 environment, if I add the drivers I have (for x64 architecture) both to the Driver Installer in Tools, and also to the one in AIO, everything is ok, no red bars (aka drivers for other architecture) or other errors. However, for an x86 environment, when I add my x86 drivers folder to the Driver section in AIO, one is not added, and one is having a blue bar (???) - error like, it's not red, so I don't know what it means If I add them to the Driver Installer in Tools, then 5 drivers wrongfully appear with red bars, and again one is not added to the list. About this issue, is VERY weird. The not added driver in one run run is skipped from Cardreaders folder, in another from WLAN... I'll send you the drivers via pm asap so you can check them for yourself. But once again, everything is perfect in a x64 environment with the x64 driver folder, please test the x86 folder in an x86 environment. I'll also send you the x64 folder just if you want to see the differences / maybe it would help in some way. I have removed the red bars from Driver Installer and invalid drivers will be removed automatically as it was also removed from All-In-One Integrator. Blue bars are duplicates, meaning an *.inf file with the same MD5 is already added to the list. I've also fixed the weird issue of the 'Unknown Error' appearing on the same line rather than individual lines. 8. Please add a warning to the Improve USB Storage Devices Performance system tweak, smth like ''Do not use this tweak if you have a wireless mouse and/or keyboard". I can confirm now, from multiple sources, that this tweak is VERY buggy if you have such peripherals, it makes them perform weird (ex: some buttons won't work, many freezes etc). It's likely that these are not the only USB peripherals negatively influenced by this tweak. 9. About the Change Setup Background Misc tweak, I have two suggestions: * I had an 200 kb .jpg, and when I selected it, a 6 MB .bmp was created, and that .bmp was selected by the app. So clearly a .bmp format is needed, but in this case please mention this in the description of the app, so users can select a small dimension .bmp from the start... * Why not also use this picture for the First logon / Runonce installer background? It's too much I think to have 2 tweaks in the app, one for the background of WinPE, one for RunOnce... The first logon background is control by a completely different tweak. I think i used to have the option of setting RunOnce background but it seemed pointless, besides that a request so needs to go into the request forum. -
I've edited the previous two posts, one with an important tweak, the other please delete - look at the previous page. Also, about the Do not allow Windows to turn off Network Adapters tweak KrX wrote about in the post above, I had it in a deleted post - not by me (???), and it's not working if added to an offline image because of the CurrentControlSet not beeing set for an offline image. However, it doesn't work also with ControlSet001 & ControlSet002. So it doesn't work in its original form... [Slim] .NET Framework 4 Full x86/x64 (1-10-2016)

Great! IF 4.5 won't be compatible with xp and 4.0 will be needed only for xp (99% probability), then please consider a ''simpler'' repack for 4.0, with only one switch: by default, ONLY client to be installed, with ngen optimization, and one switch for extended to be installed, with ngen optimization. -

Even if 4.5 won't be compatible with xp? That's the current rumours... I'm only asking, not requesting anything -
Everything is ok with build 55. Great job! And please mark it solved.

Ok, I'll try it again with build 54 and afterwards I'll check the md5. And of course I'll report back
