Whenever I start Solor Updates it immediately starts scanning the Solor server for updates, but always for Windows 7 x64 (maybe because I use W7T on a x64 machine at my workplace). I'd like to be able to configure which updates should be scanned first. I prefer Win7 x32, because my laptop (only 2Gb RAM lol), which is regularly reinstalled is still in need of Win7 x32 version, so I maintain an x32 install disc. Note this is only a minor issue, now I just have wait until the x64 scan is ready (takes a minute, sometimes two) and only then I can select the x86. Regards, Eric666

Sure, no hurry, just thought I should mention it. Edit: and disabling Aero in v92 Options works fine.
-
I just downloaded and ran v91. All of a sudden I see some lining at every button or tab in the main form, which disappears when I hoover the mouse over the button or tab. This has probably something to do with the recent Aero fix? Regards, Eric666

I meant those indeed. But since I'm not in the installation business I was just curious what they actually mean. Some of them give the impression that the current working system is checked against the CR packages and the differences are listed. That's probably not the case... I just do not know e.g. the difference between staged and pending. I guess the W7 installation is first fully completed and afterwards all Pending operations are done? And that Installed means it's there right away? But staged? No clue.... Regards, Eric666

Hi, Another thing I just realized: Component Remover now shows the package 'State' but I did not find much explanation for the states. I've looked it up, states are introduced with v60, but the related forum threads do not explicitly describe their meaning. Could this be done in the CR Help? Or should I just start a new thread in W7T Guides or Requests? There is a lot of knowledgeable people around who might give advisory on what to remove and more important: what to leave untouched if you want to use a certain feature [i recall a thread mentioning leaving Windows Music samples untouched if you want to use Windows Experience index for example]. Regards, Eric666

I've taken the liberty to do this also, hope the file will arrive then. Regards, Eric666

Yeah, saw that in v67-test, checked for it specifically lol. Regards, Eric666

Meaning the disappearing taskbar icon? Frankly, I've not been mounting images for a month or so, since I was able to make an image which satisfied my needs (clean install of W7HPx32 on my laptop). So the problem could have been introduced some time ago. It's because of your Little Things request that I started testing more thoroughly again and noticed the icon issue, which was at least reproducible... Regards, Eric666 PS Time to stop for me now, will check forum tomorrow

...and yes! Works now without disappearing taskbar icon. I also see now colored progress for mounting (yellow) and unmounting (red) in the taskbar entry, which was not present before in v66. I like this progress visibility, since it allows one to switch to something else while waiting and still keep an eye on things. Well done Lego!
-
Recieved it, I start testing right away.

Lego, I've checked all stuff I reported before and all has been fixed in v66, except for the seleted -> selected in Options-> Main -> Auto Save and Unmount entry's description. I've also tested the disappearing taskbar icon issue @home (Win7HomePremium x32) and I see the exact same behaviour as before. Your suspicion might be correct: this is not a fast machine, and the Package Retrieval from WIM takes some time, say a minute. If I recall correctly, you have 8 Gb and SSD on board, so you do not have to wait long. The reappearance of the icon at the exact same time as starting displaying the progress for discarding the image might be a window refresh of some sort? It is not a big deal, since in my case W7T can still be accessed using alt-tab. Regards and keep up the good work, Eric666

No XP here, current location W7 Pro x64, and @home W7 HomePremium x32. Might be a memory issue though, x64 machine has only 2Gb memory and is not the fastest on earth :g: I see, seems like a good option anyway. Most welcome, just trying to push you to start working on 1.4.0 :icon_cool: I like the initiative, this kind of small enhancements give the application a finished look. Keep up the good work! Regards, Eric666

W7T Options -> Main 1) Choose what language W7T displays -> Choose which language W7T displays ?? 2) The description for Check images starts with /check.. could be changed to Check instead. Also this entry is the only one with a tooltip, but the tooltip shows exact same text as the description. So either the description could be shorter, using the tooltip for a more expansive explanation or the tooltip could be removed altogether. 3) Entry Auto Save and Unmount's description contains a few typos: seleted -> selected; save -> saves; unmount -> unmounts Regards, Eric666 ----------------------------------- 2) The tooltip is done automatically when the description does not fit on the page, this saves the user from scrolling to see what it says. It's done by default.

Lego, It may have to do with my W7x64 Pro... or maybe the handover to dism for retrieving package info? Never mind, I'll check with newer version if the problem still occurs. Regards, Eric666 Edit: - After selecting an image, mounting starts, the taskbar icon flash off and on once - After mounting reaches 100%, Making Packages Visible is shown. At this exact moment the taskbar icon disappears - After closing Component Remover tool, I select Discard. It shows Discarding Image - As soon as the progress for discarding is starting, the taskbar icon is shown again I'll also check this evening on my Win7x32 HomeP machine
-
Another oddity: when I select Component Removal and then an Image to mount, the mounting shows a steady progress, np. However, when Getting Packages/Making visible etc is displayed, the W7T Taskbar icon just disappears. It only reappears after dismounting the image. This is using the latest v65. Regards, Eric666
-
This one is maybe plain stupid, but when pressing the Check for W7T Updates button, while already having the latest version, everything flashes once, and that's it. A messagebox 'You already have the latest version' or something alike would be more clear imo. Regards, Eric666 ----------------------------- Done, thanks.

...and some more really minor stuff: Toolkit Main window: - Forum button: the text is not centered vertically - Donate button: the icon is not centered vertically - [Test Code] button visible - Popular tab: Text in AIO and Solor buttons seems to deviate from the other buttons (bigger/ Bold) Done on purpose - Tools tab: Text in buttons Addon Maker, Cab retriever, Capture image and LP converter is smaller Regards, Eric666 And something I noticed: the tooltips for all buttons are shown instantaneously, some delay, say 500ms would be nice. [-> if needed, can be put in the requests thread]
-
Well, since you ask... 1) AIO Tool, Services tab, button 'Black Vipre's': if you hoover the mouse over it, it will show the tooltip for the Preset button. 2) Same tab, button Restore Default: the tooltip shows 'Unchecked', imo that should be 'Unchecks' Regards, Eric666

Hi, Here is my unattended xml (with some fake names in it). It just needs two user inputs: the drive/partition where to install and later on the computer name. As you can see it is a bit less complicated than the one generated by RT7Lite (BTW my old RT7Lite xml was nearly identical to the one of GieltjE). Tip: the xml can always be validated by using Windows System Image Manager (part of WAIK) Regards, Eric666 Autounattend.xml

Well, thank you for the effort! I'm gonna try this anyway in the next version. Cheers, Eric666

OMG! I really feel like an idiot now.... when booting the laptop, somewhere on the screen it says press ESC to enter BBS. In all these years I've just ignored it. OK, it just flashes by at high speed, but still... Guess what it gives access to? Indeed, the desired boot order. Meaning, bphlpt's advice in post#4 is exactly what has to be done and is also possible. Also meaning my request can be closed whatsoever... I'm feeling somewhat embarrassed.... Anyway, Lego, if you want to continue this, indeed my USB stick layout is as you would expect: a full copy of the W7T-ed folder, including the \sources and \Apps folders in the root. The stick itself has been prepared using W7T USB prepare ;-) Regards, Eric666 (in embarrassed state)

Bios version is A7KAS.205. I know there is a 206 version, but AFAIK it is only there for recognition of any RAM above 2 GB... which I do not have.
-
Mine is an oldy, Asus A7K back from 2007. The BIOS options of this one are very limited, so it seems. The dialog for browse/insert media now is exactly what I had in mind. This way the first step of the fresh W7 installation can be done, the stick can be removed when the first reboot takes place. Afterwards, the USB stick only has to be inserted when asked for, so the new windows 7 installation will not start anew after the occasional next reboot. Thanks for considering implementing, but no harm done if it takes too much time. Cheers, Eric666
-
Yes bphlpt, I see where you are going... if only my laptop had this hotkey for selecting the boot device when starting up, there would be no trouble at all ;-) But since it is not there I have to fool around with the permanent boot sequence order in the bios. Anyway, the worst thing happening now is that the installation from USB starts again, but because the target drive has to be selected first (I know, this can also be unattended if configured), I can cancel it there, and the automatic reboot thereafter will take me back to the startup where I can enter the bios and restore the normal boot order. Cheers, Eric666 Lego, I agree with bphlpt, this situation will not often happen and as stated, the workaround is clear. So this request has low priority and may be closed.

NP, as I already said, just a minor nuisance and a workaround is available.
