Classic Shell - 4.2.0.0 Windows 8 and 10 ONLY
Thiersee replied to *Reaper*'s topic in Win Toolkit Addons
Is only the latest BETA. -
Very good, Sir! Just a question: did you intentionally leave KB971033-x86 without prefix 2- in the file-name? Have a nice weekend, Thiersee BTW: again Deep Clean uninstalled only KB2534111 (SP1 Media Refresh) and KB300475 (I forgot not to integrate it in HP...). Edit: Just a small error Should be 10...
-
I forgot in my last post: KB971033 (WTA) has not been superseded by rollup and should be in the "Common"-category, not in the "Classic". KB2813347 should be renumbered to 1-RDPxxxx, on my test has been requested. Edit: @rhahgleuhargh I think it's really making a big confusion for some user if you mix-up category-numbers in a group (e.g. RDP 8.1); the number-prefix for the patches is good, but some user can confuse it with the category-number when you say I allowed myself to try a change on your UL, please have a look at it; to get a "free" category, without changing a lot, I changed the IE-Category to 9: It works. Info in between: in the ISO for the installation running as I wrote you, I had integrated the 5 more RDP-Patches (with DISM); after a Deep Cleaning exactly those patches have been uninstalled! The 3 RDPs had been integrated before rollup. I begin now building a new ISO from scratch with your original UL, but moving all RDPs before rollup and I'll report, may be in the late night . Edit: here am I again ! 1) RDPs, only KB2574819, KB2592687, KB2830477, integrated before rollup, no other RDP requests. 2) KB2813347 seems to be necessary, it has been requested (installed at the end, after request by WU). 3) Deep Cleaning uninstalled only KB2534111. A good solution: I would renumber the RDPs to 2- (the four for convenience rollup) and to 4- (the rest); not the categories. I would move KB3102429 to "Common" and renumber it to 2-; it will be requested as optional. Or you can hide it... Have a good night, Thiersee

The only big difference I can see is the integration sequence: I integrate RDP 8.1 before rollup KB3125574; following the WHD-Info for RDP should be that the right sequence: If I import all the file from the UL KB2574819 is as prerequisite, but all other RDP-patches are at the end, after the rollup. Anyway I hope I can manage still today to do another integration and report about it. Thiersee

I understand, but there is no relationship between category-number and download-number, and that's confusing me! I just finished one of my final installations (VM, x86) and I did NOT get any request regarding RDP! Could be eventually the sequence of integration or the presence of KB2813347? I integrated for RDP 8.1 BTW: 1) KB2813347 (in the UL) should have been replaced by KB3075220, but this one is needed only if RDP 8.1 is not installed http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=e31f669c-cc33-40a3-954c-47bd3c6fa68e (details) 2) KB2923545 has been replaced by KB3125574 (Rollup) http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=b3cd5165-7bda-468f-95fa-b8b2f36d085e (details) Thiersee

@rhahgleuhargh Are you really sure? As I installed with the old list from 08-06-2016 (Convenience Rollup!) Deep Cleaning has uninstalled: KB2857650, KB2923545, KB3020388, KB3075226, KB3126446, for both x86 & x64. I wrote it already in a previous post (monday, page 53). I'll do another test. Thiersee Edit: The numbered files are very confusing (my opinion!)

Hi Liam, the integrated patches does sometimes NOT appear under Tab "Integrated"; nevertheless they are integrated (controlled with NTLite and installation in VM). Thiersee

Hi Liam, is it possible to release a new build or test-version with KB3020369 and KB2670838 moved under "Prerequisite"? It's necessary for KB3125574 (Convenience Rollup Update Pack). Thanks a lot. Thiersee

@rhahgleuhargh I had KB2685811/813 on a try a couple of days ago: normally I install them later, but I forgot them in the list during integration, so I installed them twice.... KB2534111 was the only difference between W7SP1 RTM and W7SP1_u (Media Refresh); so if somebody uses the old ISO without media-refresh should not get it uninstalled. And indeed, deep clean depends on, how the system has been originally installed, classic- or rollup-way.

@pennsylvaniaron No, no, you misunderstood me (oder, better, I explained it to simply ) Convenience-Rollup is a package (KB3125574) released by MS on May 2016, containing almost all patches (but not all!) since release of SP1 though April 2016. This package has some prerequisite to observe. You can build an actual ISO in the way used up to May 2016 (WUD, Classic): you need category 2 (Common) & 3 (Classic) OR you can build it with this new package (Convenience Rollup): you need category 1 (Convenience Rollup Pack Update) & 2 (Common). This is the "basis"; if you need some other features (RDP 8.0 or 8.1, additional patches, IE11 and so on) it's up to you: for this purpose you can use the other categories of WUD. BTW, I don't know how do you build your ISO, but I don't think WUD-ULs are the right choice to implement some patches in your last month ISO. Regards, Thiersee

Half an hour ago I terminated the search in my VM, I didn't want to wait longer. Ten minutes ago I started the VM and the search again: I got immediately the list of requests! I started the installation and I wait and wait.... Edit: Just now finished.... @pennsylvaniaron The first category contains only the Convenience -Rollup the second contains the common patches for method 1 (with rollup) and method 2 (classic, like up to may) the third contains all the patches only for method 2 (classic). It means: if you are using the rollup-methode you need category 1 & 2 if you are using the classic-methode you need category 2 & 3 All other categories are related to both ways. BTW, I tested the Rollup-methode (Professional x64) with WTK 1.5.4.4 with this .INI and it works very good: rollup-pack (KB3125574) just before the patches for may

@rhahgleuhargh Made new tests on x86 (HP) & x64 (P) without the by DC uninstalled KBs, added the old WUClient and KB971033 in the "Common category": I confirm the previous tests, no request from WU, only KB2603229 with the size 36Kb. DeepClean uninstalls now only KB2534111. Let's see, what will happen tonight . Thiersee

Hi, tested the way with Convenience Rollup. x86-HP on VM: WU asks for SP1, installed KB2533552 (even if it was under Runonce-SFX), request has gone. After DC: uninstalled KB2534111, KB2857650 (RDP), KB2923545, KB3004375 (HP!), KB3020388, KB3075226, KB3080079, KB3126446. Restart, new search: no new requests. x64-P on VM: Only UL: WU asks for KB2603229 (component, only 36 KB?). After complete install (some extra KBs, like for x86), WU asks for SP1 (KB2533552) and KB971033. After DC: same as for x86 (of course no KB3004375). Now let's wait until tomorrow...
