Component removal does not shrink size
I removed packages with Component removal, rebuild and save image. When I open this image again I don't see removed packages. Image is also smaller - it was around 11GB (little less) for W7Ultimate SP1, now it's 9.98GB. W7T is great all-in-one tool. You could do most of what it does with command line tools, but it's just faster with W7T.

If you "open" mounted image in W7T after you unhid packages with registry tweak tool you should see whole list in Components Removal. It's strange though it is not default in W7T

Component removal does not shrink size
The output posted before was made from offline image: This is what I did: 1. I've unpacked "retail" iso to folder c:\win7 2. mounted c:\win7\sources\install.wim with dism to c:\mount\offilne 3. read packages with dism's Get-Packages command So if I didn't remove anything before, just unpack iso and mount wim file - should this get-packages list be so short?

Looks like it's not the problem with W7T. This is what dism returns with Get-Packages (untouched win7 sp1 iso): Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 6.1.7600.16385 Image Version: 6.1.7601.17514 Packages listing: Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-Client-LanguagePack-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~6.1.7601.17514 State : Install Pending Release Type : Language Pack Install Time : 12/04/2011 08:28 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-Client-Refresh-LanguagePack-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~6.1.7601.17514 State : Install Pending Release Type : Language Pack Install Time : 12/04/2011 08:28 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-CodecPack-Basic-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514 State : Installed Release Type : Feature Pack Install Time : 21/11/2010 03:40 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-Foundation-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514 State : Installed Release Type : Foundation Install Time : 21/11/2010 03:40 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-IE-Troubleshooters-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~6.1.7601.17514 State : Install Pending Release Type : Language Pack Install Time : 12/04/2011 08:28 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-IE-Troubleshooters-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514 State : Installed Release Type : Feature Pack Install Time : 21/11/2010 03:40 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Optional-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~8.0.7601.17514 State : Install Pending Release Type : Language Pack Install Time : 12/04/2011 08:28 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Optional-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~8.0.7601.17514 State : Installed Release Type : Feature Pack Install Time : 21/11/2010 03:40 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-LocalPack-AU-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514 State : Install Pending Release Type : Local Pack Install Time : 12/04/2011 08:30 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-LocalPack-CA-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514 State : Install Pending Release Type : Local Pack Install Time : 12/04/2011 08:31 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-LocalPack-GB-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514 State : Install Pending Release Type : Local Pack Install Time : 12/04/2011 08:31 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-LocalPack-US-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514 State : Install Pending Release Type : Local Pack Install Time : 12/04/2011 08:31 Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-LocalPack-ZA-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514 State : Install Pending Release Type : Local Pack Install Time : 12/04/2011 08:32 Package Identity : Package_for_KB2534111~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0 State : Install Pending Release Type : Hotfix Install Time : 12/04/2011 08:18 Package Identity : Package_for_KB976902~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.17514 State : Installed Release Type : Update Install Time : 21/11/2010 03:01 The operation completed successfully. Maybe I'm wrong but shouldn't there be many more packages?

Component removal does not shrink size
I have the same problem, when I mount unchanged windows 7 ultimate sp1 image, and choose Component Removal I see only 5 packages.
