How to quick reactivate Windows after reinstall
Siginet replied to cro-man's topic in Tips and Tricks
Does this still actually work? I thought this method stopped working after SP2? Another method you can use (On Royalty OEM machines) is the OEMScan method. It will make sure that the proper oembios.* files are copied to your system during the windows setup stage and preactivate windows for you. http://www.msfn.org/board/OEMScan-Automate...&hl=oemscan I use this method all of the time. What is nice is you can make an xp install disk with many different manufacturer oembios.* files. Sony, HP, Dell, Gateway and so on... -
[Attention] Concerning all my (Kel) addons...
Siginet replied to Kelsenellenelvian's topic in WPI, nLite and RVM Addons
The internal cab files can be done with tugzip fine. It is windows install that deals with them anyways. As long as Windows can read the tugzip files it is fine. If the installs you made with nLite were fine using internal cab files made with tugzip then there isn't a problem. It's just for some reason the integrator does not like the way tugzip compresses cab files. If I find a simple method for extracting cab files that is compatable with tugzip then I will add it. But only if it is a very small tool that I compile into the integrator. I stupidly was trying Expand.exe... coded it completly into the integrator and thought it was ready for tugzip cab support... but I forgot that makecab and expand.exe do not support cab files with sub-folders correctly. Expand.exe would have been perfect too... because I wouldn't have to compile it into the integrator. The integrator uses a custom 7zdn.exe file that was created for us. Which supports extracting of cab, 7z, rar, and zip files. It basically is like the original 7zip comand line file but without the compression portion. Since we don't need the compression routines. I think... nLite used to use the 7zdn.exe file too. I could be wrong though. Thanks for understanding Kel. -
[Attention] Concerning all my (Kel) addons...
Siginet replied to Kelsenellenelvian's topic in WPI, nLite and RVM Addons
I have looked into adding support to extract tugzip compressed cab files... but the effort it will take... and the un-needed tool I will have to compile into the integrator just to do this task is really not worth my time. The integrator has allways been fine extracting cab files with every other know method of cab compression... but for some reason tugzip has changed something that is not compatable. It doesn't seem right for me to change such a major part of the integrator to be compatable with such a small thing. Obviously tugzip is great for cabbing files for personal use... but for UpdatePacks and Addons I guess it is a bad idea. Can I ask why not use winrar or 7zip? Don't these usually provide a much better compression anyways? I personally stepped away from using cab compression on my addons as soon as the integrator and nLite gave support for zip, rar, and 7z because dealing with cab files are so tedious. -
First thing is to look for updated versions of all of these addons. Especially with the release of sp3 there have been problems caused. Make sure your slipstream of sp3 went ok (if it was needed). Slipstreaming sp3 using normal methods have proven to be troublesome in a vista environment if not done correctly. Once you have tested your sp3 slipstream and integrated all of the addons using updated addons test your iso again. If you still seem to be having a problem your best bet is to use a small amount of these addons at a time. Then test your iso in a virtual environment. If it works... then add a few more addons. Keep doing this until it breaks. Once you find the problematic addon it is best to report the issue in the addons thread so it can be fixed. The latest beta of the RVM Integrator has fixed many SP3 related issues. You can try the latest beta here: http://integrator.siginetsoftware.com/inde...dons&id=212 Currently you can grab Beta5.1. But Beta6 is going to be online very soon. I am putting some finishing touches to it now.

[Attention] Concerning all my (Kel) addons...
Siginet replied to Kelsenellenelvian's topic in WPI, nLite and RVM Addons
I'm sad to see a reaction like this from you Kel. I have had a really bad few months and lost my cousin in an auto accident. I haven't been coding the integrator for a while. I have latley been working on the next release as well. As for the errors... they are not caused by the integrator... but poorly made addons. I mean come on... how hard is it to re-compress addons using a compatable archiving program? I know there have been issues with the integrator and SP3... nLite went through the same trouble. Except my life became more important for a little while. For someone who was supposed to be my friend... I sure feel let down. I mean... when you were going through a rough time did I not help you out? Good news is the integrator is back under developement.. it also has a new developer who is onboard to help out. Many new plans on an upcomming release... but for now I am concentrating on any SP3 made issues. In the meantime 1.5.3 can easily be used with MrNxDmX's WBEM Fix addon. For those having issues with kels addons... you should be able to just expand the addon and recompress it with winrar, 7zip, winzip or almost any other archiving utility. -
I can vouch for blackvipers site too. It does have some great info on it. The creator has also apeared on Tech TV a long time ago. I can understand how N1K would see the post as spam though. Nowadays there are bots that post links on sites that us Admins/Moderators have to delete constantly. So it is understandable when you see a user who posts a link as the first post to be mistaken for spam. I don't agree the link is spam though... because it does fit what this board is for. Allthough every board has their own rules and they should be treated with respect. On my small forum I think I have a setting on it that new members can't post links in their first post. ChiefZeke has frequented on Ryans board. I know that doesn't have anything to do with here. I just want to help ensure that he meant no harm.

I think i recently dealt with a virus that used a beep.sys file. Some of those definatly look like viruses.

[Release] Siginet's Windows 2003 Post-SP2 Critical UpdatePack
Siginet replied to Siginet's topic in WPI, nLite and RVM Addons
Yeah I am having some issues making the x64 versions. I may post my working version soon. But it will have issues and I'll need some help to fix the bugs. Unless I can figure it out. I'm getting the dredded framedyn.dll and srclient.dll error. I may start integrating each hotfix one by one to find out which one is the issue. Please... if you use my updatepacks let me know your experiances. Good or bad. So far I have found 1 person who has gotten minor errors in a virtual environment... but I haven't been able to recreate his problem. So I need to determin if it is a problem or if it is an error with his iso. -

I hope this UpdatePack fits in this section of the forum. Wasn't sure if I should put it with the addons or not.

I thought maybe this post had something to do with the U.S. Dollar. since it isn't worth anything nowadays. This program would probably be simple to turn into an addon. It is a standalone program. No installation needed. The best kind infact.

That's pretty cool. Nice thinking N1K!

I have been thinking about getting the pro version of RogueRemover since it has killed some spyware that adaware and spybot together had a hard time killing. What are the benefits of the pro version? I also noticed that Malwarebyte's now have a full blown Anti-Malware utility. Anyone used it yet? I tried it and it seemed pretty good. But it reccognised one of my custom utilities as Malware. Allthough it looks simple to exclude things from the list as well. -

I also like to use Rogueremover before I scan with Ad-Aware and Spybot. -
Just click Shift+F10 and it opens a cmd window for you. It comes in handy when you want to figure out what's wrong with your setup. You can then open taskmgr. Or even Internet Explorer at like the 16 min mark. Or you can expand solitare and play it during setup.

I'm here now. Thanks for the warm welcome.
