  1. The only time you will get thermal paste is when you buy a new CPU or heatsink. You will have to purchase that separate. Everything is pretty much just plug and play. A couple things to look out for is watch how you but your RAM and CPU in, they do only go in one way. On the CPU look for a little arrow in the corner of the CPU, there will also be a little arrow on the CPU socket. With the RAM, just make sure that the notch on the RAM lines up with the notch in the slot before you push down. There are several videos online.
  2. I haven't tried it but I think it would be the oobefldr.dll
  3. Yeah, I kind of leave my forearm on the case. I had to use the straps when I was in school and I personally think they get in the way. In school I did a tear down and build in 16 minutes. LOL. For 3 months (Hardware Semester) we had to tear down and build our system every morning. It got so boring.
  4. Your old and new mobo are both LGA775 so the CPU will be a easy swap, both mobos support 533 so RAM is fine. You can use a static strap if you want to, I don't use them personally. As long as you ground yourself out your fine. You can ground your self out by touching anything metal in the case.
  5. Nice sets, you may want to use a Vista/7 style logonui for some of your mods. It would be nice if there's was some software out there for hard modding the logonui. I have a ton of logonui's but all Vista/7 style.
  6. If you mod 1 krnl you can make 3 more copies and rename them accordingly. I don't have time right now to make anything. I am still setting up my Virtual XP in my spare time. That bootXP is real easy to use.
  7. What do you mean 4 files? Also on boot screens you can only use 16 color compliant BMPs. So that pic may not look as good.
  8. There is a number of factors on this issue, but you can use BootXP.
  9. I finally got my RAM in today. :thumbsup_anim:
  10. Welcome to WinCert
  11. The timing is off unfortunately (5-7-7-18) it's advertised at 5-5-5-15. It seems like a lot of people are having issues to get this running at 1066. So all I can say is that I bought a 800 with good OC ability. LOL. Right now I am at 3.510 (from 3.0) and RAM is at 468.1. I haven't gone higher yet. the max for my CPU is 540. Next time I will stay away from the "good deals" LOL
  12. After 2 weeks they still have no located the RAM which was in a prepaid envelope from them but, they are finally going to send me my replacement stick. I asked for a free 2G stick for the inconvenience but they said they couldn't. LOL
  13. This is my build thus far. Case NZXT Apollo Black SECC Steel $79.99 Motherboard, Processor and Heat Sink ASUS M4A785-M $79.99, AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz $64.99 OC'd @ 3.6 and OCZ Vendetta (Free after mail in rebate) Power Supply Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 500W $89.99 RAM Patriot Viper II 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 $69.99 Graphics Card XFX HD-477A-YDFC Radeon HD 4770 $114.99 Hard Drives Internal WD 80G, 320G, 160G and 1 TB (Green) External Segate 250G WD 160G My Work Station Total 498.95 (not including HDD's, Monitor or Speakers)
  14. I bought Patriot Viper II 4GB (2 x 2GB) 1066. After 2 weeks I had 1 sticks heat spread keep falling off, after about 2 months the other stick died. I sent the dead stick out and got a replacement in around 2 weeks (that's after they got it). I sent the other stick (with the bad heat sink) out around 2 weeks ago, and yet have not got a email with the tracking number for that replacement. Mean while, this replacement (2 weeks old) is bad. I will get a BSOD when I have it set for 1066. It works fine and passes MemTest on 800, but fails on 1066. OK, I just wanted to give people a heads up. I am sure it's just my luck. These are the only rams I have had go bad on me.
  15. I just installed my card. Man is it a beast. It has some good weight to it also. I got a 7.2 all around for graphics in WEI for 7. I got a 11241 on 3DMarks (I am missing 2G still so not sure if that will change). Man there is big difference in gaming now. And I really haven't done much yet. Maybe later tonight.
  16. LMAO. That was a good one
  17. Yeah I am using Windows 7 Ultimate an dit's DirectX 10.1.
  18. Yes it is overkill at the moment but I will get a larger monitor in a month or 2 if all goes well. LOL
  19. Specially if it's better than stock. LOL
  20. OK, I was at MicroCenter yesterday getting a controller and a 2.1 speaker set and I cam accross a OCZ Vendetta, yeah it maybe a old version but it was $9.99 with a 10.00 mail-in rebate. I just thought I would share that.
  21. OK the 8800 gt did not go through. So Ia m going for a overkill. I ended up getting the XFX HD-477A-YDFC Radeon HD 4770 512MB over the XFX HD-485X-ZDFC Radeon HD 4850 1GB I have read that the 4770 has out performed the 4850 and the 9800GT.
  22. I don't know? I am waiting for a reply. I also don't know how long he has had it. The person stays around 15 minutes away from me.
