are you running any other av program? sometimes there are conflicts when trying to install a new one when you already have one on your computer. also, this might be nothing, but i read on another forum that the free 6 months is only for the chinese version. maybe the error has something to do with that
-
that sounds unusual. why would you want one?

happy b-day DaRk MaDnEsS.. now get back to work making addons!

5eraph might have to change that number 5 to something bigger

i just had another thought. currently there is one "64bit Operating Systems" forum, however i think in the future there will be more of a need to expand upon that. for example, will there be just one consolidated 64bit os forum? or one for vista 64, windows7 64 bit, xp 64bit, server 64bit etc(is there even 32bit version of ms server ?) currently theres 7 total topics in the 64bit Operating Systems forum, so right now it doesnt seem a lot of people have much need/interest, but i suspect that will start to change in the next year or so (i've read where m$ expects the majority of win7 installations to be 64bit version)

i was surprised! i checked the forums today and saw some changes made

i've noticed a few (what seems to me) redundant forums. i've a suggestion to combine/merge a few together here is a list of a few i think could work: Microsoft Beta Operating Systems and Software + Beta Software forums : if "Microsoft Beta Operating Systems and Software" is specifically for operating system beta info, then there is already a windows 7 forum. so either way it seems like one could be gotten rid of or just merged together. Tips and Tricks + How-To Tips forums : seems like both of these could just be combined into one, since they are basically the same thing (having to deal with tips etc) Slimming Down Windows XP forums : nobody has posting anything in either of these 4 forums in two years. i dont know why so much space is given to that section, when it could all be put in subforums under one main forum, thus reducing space/clutter on the forum. anyways, i was just bored today so i thought i'd post some ideas. sometimes forums can get too 'bloated' and/or lead to confusion where to correctly post something

asus makes decent machines. i've no idea about what their customer support is like though. but maybe if you get it via retail then you'll handle it through the store you got it from. if you get it from best buy they might hit you up for a 'performance tuning' or something with a similar name. basically they'll take it, fiddle around with a few settings and charge you like $40 for it. sometimes they throw it in for free though

would this work for any cursors a person might have? would it be a simple matter of replacing all the Aero words with whatever ones i'd want to use?

lol i remember playing doom on a 486 dx2-40, had a 5 1/4 floppy drive and i think 4mb of edo ram. didnt have a sound card, but somehow the game still played a few sounds through the internal pc speaker in the case

i'd avoid toshiba as well. i think they are also heavy on the bloat (all those 'free' aka unwanted programs taking up system resources) i'd also avoid acer. are you only limited to best buy? oh and core 2 duo > amd and i would not really list Wireless Draft N as a 'pro' b/c as far as i know the final spec still isnt out yet, but even then wireless 'g' would probably be enough for you
-
nice! i was secretly hoping for that

this might be useful info for you http://www.msfn.org/board/HOWTO-create-ful...VD-t105277.html maybe this would have something useful too http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6419

i always thought those were gimmicks too. i remember a bunch started appearing back in the win98 era, but i dont think any of them did much of anything really.

"This addon will install mediaplayer 11 with the look of mediaplayer 12 to XP" so.. its basically just a wmp12 skin for wmp11?
-
it seems that way. seems i got a little confused when they wrote "Vista Superbar Registry Entry" but they must have meant change the win 7 one to be more like vista here is something else i found. http://www.uxpassion.com/2008/12/how-to-ma...like-windows-7/ it doesnt seem to be 100% like win 7 though.

those of you wanting this for vista might try this http://clifgriffin.com/2008/11/08/hidden-w...-registry-hack/ i dont have vista so i cant say how well it works

theres a way you can manually replace the sounds w/o using an addon. doing it this way will make them the default sounds, but also write over the older xp ones in the process. there are probably many ways to do this, but this is how i did it, and it isnt too difficult. 1. find a vista sound pack. they will probably be pretty easy to find somewhere on the internet. i found mine on deviantart (make sure they are .wav files) 2. make sure that the vista sound file names match the that names for the xp ones. if they don't you'll have to rename them. 3. open up notepad and make a file with this: @echo Off title MakeCab all file in current directory FOR %%L IN (*.*) DO makecab %%L /L ".\Cab" exit 4. save the file as createcabs.cmd 5. place createcabs.cmd in the same directory where you have your vista sound files located. double click on the createcabs.cmd and it should run a batch process and place newly created cabbed files in a folder named cab. 6. after that just copy the newly created cab files and paste inside the i386 folder. if you did it correctly, it will ask you if you want to overwrite the originals. and there you have it. vista sounds replacing the xp ones by default
