if you go here http://www.wincert.net/forum/forum/176-microsoft-windows-7/ you'll see at the top of the page one topic has 0 views and none of the words 'x replies'. but i think all topics are suppose to have x views, x replies. also if you click on the topic you'll actually see a few replies. right under the 3 pinned topics

most suggestions i've read say to look in a couple areas. when i look under \Resources\Themes it isnt there. when i look under %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes it lists one "oem" theme but it is only 2kb in size, so that cant be it. it also has a custom background image when you log-on/log-off and i'd like to save that as well

First time playing with the $OEM$ Folder problems
ccl0 replied to ElmerBeFuddled's topic in Microsoft Windows 7
actually i thought the oem folder was copied on all oem installs. i guess not (and explains why i could not find it lol) i was trying to find a copy of my certificate..i figured it would be in an oem folder under sources? i didn't look on the recovery image. maybe its there. -
First time playing with the $OEM$ Folder problems
ccl0 replied to ElmerBeFuddled's topic in Microsoft Windows 7
this is slightly off topic but i can't for the life of me locate the 'sources' folder on a pre-installed system. -
I've never used it before so i'm not sure if this is normal behavior. basically I ran win toolkit as I normally do. ran the a-i-o integrator, added some updates etc. after I finished with that I decided to try the WIM manager. I selected what I presume I had been working on (the green highlighted one). I noticed the image size was 11.33 gb! that was kind of strange/shocking b/c i'm used to the .iso being somewhere around 6-8gb. since It was my first attempt at using WIM manager, I selected rebuild image. after that, the image size stayed the same as above. I elected to export image anyway, and low and behold when I checked it, the file size was only 2.61gb! first question: is this normally what happens? i'm not sure why it inflated to 11+gb. or why/how it shrunk down to 3/4th the original size. second: is there a recommended step by step procedure to follow? i'm just doing all this 'blind' and not sure if there is a recommended order or steps to get to where I am (exporting a .wim image)

i'm getting this error message today "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/wincert/public_html/forum/admin/applications/members/sources/classes/messaging/messengerFunctions.php on line 3222" edit: seems to have corrected itself. the error happened when I tried to check my message inbox, but everything is working properly now.

i'm not sure if this info will help but basically prevent sleep box was already checked, however i unchecked it and rechecked it and that might have cleared up the problem.

i think if you don't intend to travel with your backup, then 2.5 will not be very useful for you. if you just plan on sticking it somewhere in your house, i'd take the approach as above and get a big one like the seagate. if you decide on a desktop hd instead of a portable one, you have a lot more options. some with wireless capability, like this one for example http://www.seagate.com/external-hard-drives/desktop-hard-drives/goflex-home/ but i'm sure western digital and most other brands have their own versions as well. or you could go NAS, ESATA or even thunderbolt.

A List Of Start Menu Replacements for Windows 8
ccl0 replied to mlauzon's topic in Microsoft Windows 8
bring back 8 and pokki look interesting -
anyone know of a topic regarding win toolkit and things that are safe to remove (or unused/unecessary for the most part)? my iso ballooned to over 7gb, and i've hardly done anything but add the update files etc.
-
thanks for the answers. unfortunately i checked and 'prevent sleep' under options was already checked. so maybe a bug in the new beta?
-
edit: i watched it carefully last night. i think my first description was not quite accurate. i can't say for certain, since it was a couple weeks ago, but this time it fell asleep after it was finished. so i've changed the wording in my topic.

Add Downloads to Win7 Libraries on Windows Explorer
ccl0 replied to Kormann's topic in Win Toolkit Addons
if i use this tweak http://www.sevenforu...add-remove.html with your addon, will the downloads folder show in the library desktop folder too? on a side note, anyone know if this library desktop icon tweak is already in win toolkit? -

[Howto] Integrate IE9-Windows7-x86-deu.exe with WT 1.5
ccl0 replied to foobuzz's topic in Win Toolkit

edit: after more investigation windows update cant update my audio driver for some reason. the recommended solution from Microsoft was to download the system update readiness tool
-
how important is "windows System Update Readiness Tool" ?
-
thanks for that link. i had no idea where to find the 1.5x beta
-
halogens get hot. very hot. but they are bright light led but have much shorter lifespan. leds supposedly last like 50 years but yeah they're very expensive. where i live we switched to cfl bulbs. they dont give off clear/pure light like halogen or led but they also dont get as hot like halogen, and are pretty cheap. i think any technology you choose has pros and cons, and you basically pick something you're willing to live with. i've seen a few halogen hybrids http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/21/ge-introduces-hybrid-bulb-with-both-halogen-and-cfl-elements/ have never used any.

there will be a sp2? any idea when that might be out? edit: after looking around it appears that it wont be any time soon. maybe not until sometime in 2013
-
thanks i figured thats what it was, but really confused me b/c the link was to "post sp1 updates" so that really threw me.. could not figure out why that would be there if the assumption was w7+ sp1 source was already being used :dizzy:
-
thanks for the list. curious about something though. do i need to download .net framework 3.5.1 updates (5) if i am also going to download .net 4.5 under optional updates? oh and something else, the link goes to "post sp1 updates" but when i am looking at the available updates in the windows updates downloader there is one listed as "service packs (1)" windows servie pack 1 kb976932 not sure what that is for

darn. i only saw this today
