I have been thinking about doing that and other minor text edits. I have been trying to find a way to replace text. No luck so far.

I'll need o go through all of the files in 3.0 and see what else has changed and needs to remain. I'll have an update later today.

You are using several addons that are not compatible with Firefox 3.0, There is only one that I am aware of that is not compatible with the SSE2 version, that is Roboform. It will take some time for all of the makers of the addons to update to the new 3.0. I continue to use 2.0.0.x for that very reason. Most of the addons I use are not compatible, yet. ***EDIT***Roboform can be made compatible with this minor change - in about:config change "general.useragent.extra.firefox" from BonEcho or Minefield to Firefox. tested

For now, I will just extract the dll into the plugins folder, overwriting the file that may be there. At least, until I learn how to get version info. The installer will not be used. Thanks for the info on the dll. Already there!!

Thunderbird Addon Maker v0.12 Updated 28 Jul 08 This is a little script that will download the current 2.0.0.x Thunderbird, in your current languange. Or, will download the English version of 3.0a1 and create a localized version for you. It will then insert your personal data and create an addon, placed in the current folder, that can be used in nLite or RVM. A log file is created for all file copies. So you can see what was copied from your system to the addon. It will insert all of the passwords, themes, plugins and extensions that you currently have installed on your system. As soon as Optimized SSE2 posts there rc3 I will update. ***EDIT*** The rc3 is not yet available on their ftp site. Good idea.

Thanks. With your help, the script should be able to create a completely localized version. It has been tested with English and French version in vm.

Makes only English - as the optimized version is only English. I don't know how to create a non-Englidh version. Sorry. ***EDIT - I think that I have found the error, but I can't fix until I get home from work. True. Should not be empty. I have not seen any created with that folder empty. But, I will look into it. When using the Optimized version of Firefox. You need all of the Optimized files used to create Firefox. But, maybe if I use the original firefox-l10n.js and lang files. I may be able to make a non-English SSE2 version. I will give it a try that.

I don't use Thunderbird. But, I will look at it. Shouldn't be much different. Would you want the emails copied over or just the profile? I assume that there are plugins and extensions that would need to be copied, also.

Be more specific. I don't kow if the script will work in VISTA as I do not have a VISTA system. Sorry. I'm looking for bugs, now. I'll see what I can find.

Because roboform, according to the tech that responded to my questioning, will never support any MODIFIED version of Firefox, you may not want to use the SSE2 versions. I can not truly see a difference between vanilla or SSE2 versions. I do like alot of the changes from 2.0.0.14 to 3.0 though. I use all 4 versions. I made the 4 addons and re-install whenever I get the urge. I, also, am trying to find one I like.

In first iteration of script, I attempted to placed addon on the desktop. Because it caused problems with some users, I removed any reference to %programfiles% for creation of addon. It simply creates the files wherever you invoke the script, ie. desktop or folder. I am not sure what you are refereing to ....until now... What is happening, now? Thanks for testing.

What sites so that I can test. please. I just tested on clean system here, with BonEcho 3.0rc2 and it shows installed and working.

I fixed several bugs that I had overlooked. I hope I got 'em all. If you have downloaded a previous version and it worked for you. Hooray. But, please download current version. Just in case. Thx

Where is the script stalling? What is in the title bar?

Are you using a file scanner - virus, etc. If may be locking the file while it scans it. When the script tests it, it may not have access to the file and subsequently fails. Try disabling the scanner while the script runs.

Firefox - Ayakawa Build There is an addon here that referenced and SSE2 optimized version of Firefox. After reading several reviews on some of the modified Firefox builds. Ayakawa builds seem to be the fastest build and it is updated frequently, with each new release of Firefox. The only issue I have had with the Optimized versions is that Roboform will not register itself with any Bon Echo Firefox. Roboform has no plans to support the Optimized versions.

Thanks rick. I just discovered these the other day. I have tried infs by looking at Mrs Peels addons. Video tutorials are much easier to follow.

Check your mail. I need more info. Since your first post, I have tested more than a hundred different scenarios as I've edited the script and have yet to duplicate the errors you receive. What is the path where you invoke the script?
