Oh ok cool. Whats your thought about the LDR feature? Thanks for your help.
-
I am using the KUC in offline mode but never get a remove_old.cmd...get update.cmd and update_Normal.cmd but never remove.cmd. Not sure if there is a check that I am not checking to make that happen. Should me I be using the LDR feature? I have never to my knowlege installed an update in LDR mode. This is what I use to start KUC "KUC UpdateChecker.exe" /DVD-image-dir:c:\offline /up-dir:c:\wu /repo-dir:c:\wu\repo

Bump anyone about the remove_old.cmd?
-
Not sure if this on topic or off so if it's off...sorry. ricktendo64, a few post up you guys are talking about KUC and I have just found this tool in the last week and I am using KUC on an offline image and I never get a remove_old.cmd? I am not suppose to on offline stuff? and I sent you a personal message about the LDR option?
-
I will give this a try, Thanks, ricktendo64 EDIT: I need to read up on KUC. The update.cmd isn't doing anything. I guess I did something wrong? What I mean it gives me a message about not finding updates or something. Update: OK read up on some info and got it working now

I haven't tested the not show up in MU thing. I was asking if the 15 that do show up, how does KUC stop them from showing up?
-
Miss this, sorry. What does that mean if the updates don't show up. Does that mean you can't update the system with the updates or does it just hide the updates and they install automatically?

Thanks so much, dougiefresh!

I understand and know its allot of work. Not complaining at all (not that you said I was) was just wondering how KUC finds the newest updates. I have the highest respect for all the guys that make us the tools to make our life easier. I am just really digging the Update Retriever tool! :prop:

Thanks guys for all the info. So many tricks out now for Windows 7 and 8 already that I have only began to scratch the surface. The KUC thing seems to have been out for awhile but I am just learning of it from a another post by ricktendo64. ricktendo64, does the person who develop KUC, I guess Komm. Does the updates this tool downloads come from a server on his end or from windows updates? Would that be the reason the newest updates from the last month or so is still showing up in MSU? Makes sense to me crashfly, just the 127 updates slipstream a ton faster and my time on the weekends is limited but I didn't want to use 127 vs 350 plus if it was going to damage the OS or starting acting up down the road. I don't mind a few updates showing up in MSU. Just not sure how KUC keeps the updates up. Manually or by Windows Update? Thanks, .bphlpt. I will read up on some of this. Your have been helpful as usual! I have been doing this the "hard way" since Vista and 7 came out. I have 300 plus updates that I downloaded one by one from MSUC over the years and have always slipstream 300 plus. KUC only showed I was missing 7 updates when it scan my years of downloads. I always had to write down which one that new updat supersede and it took me a week! So glad to see this KUC and Update Retriever!! So glad to have a helpful bunch of smart folks to get answers from too! Thanks again!

Used KUC today for the first time and when I mounted an untouched Win 7 x86 source to the offline folder and started up KUC, it found 357 updates so I used the DISM script KUC generated and slipstream the updates into the Offline source and did a test load on my Asus machine and 15 Updates appeared still in MSU. I then did a test load with a untouched source with NO updates as in untouched and ran Legolash2o Update Retriever in the Win ToolKit and it found 127 updates so I downloaded and slipstream the 127 updates and did another test load and there was only 4 updates in MSU which is OK but my question is why would KUC find 357 plus updates and Update Retriever find 127? Why would you use 357 updates that take awhile to slipstream compared to 127 and shorter slipstream times with lesser Updates in MSU?

The source I have is an untouched OEM DVD I bought When I bought my computer parts and not sure if the source has the KB253411 update. I have not in anyway modded this source.
-
I downloaded the "newer Win 7 iso" from the download tab on the WinToolKit (with this update KB2534111) and I thought it was suppose to be newer but the modified date when choosing which Version you want to load says 4-20-10 (I think its 20 but know its 4 and 10 just not sure about the 20) but the ISO I got when I built my new system a few months ago says modified 11-20-10. How did mine get a newer modified date than the one in Legolash2o links? Link here and says updated Jul 2012? http://www.wincert.n...p1-refresh-iso/

Where is the section to set to AnyCPU? Do you mean all entried that look like this component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="x86" Should look like this component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="AnyCPU"

Here is one place http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/9521-dougiefreshs-vista-sp2-update-pack-x86-august-29-2012/ Also if you load Vista go to updates and install all your updates and then reboot, WinToolKit has an option under tools tab to check your system for installed updates and it will download them for you to a folder of your choice. One of my favorite tools on the Wintoolkit!

Used all cab files 100 plus Vista updates. Uncheck the update checker tab in the options menu and all imported and add all updates to 4 images with all green lights, just installed Vista to my test machine with only 6 updates in MSU.
-
Working on that now. I use USB but I will report back shortly.
-
OK, figured it out. In options, I just uncheck the tab dealing with checking the updates and all went well with all green this go round
-
Sorry if I missed something but I am using the latest Wintoolkit and works like a charm on Win7 stuff. I am using it to intergrate updates into an offline Vista image from a Win7 machine and instead all green when a update is slipstream, I am getting all pink. Am I not doing something right? Should I do this under a running Vista machine?
-
Thanks, ricktendo64. I have that one. I just downloaded the new ones one by one. Anyway you know of to convert cab to msu?
-
Bump anyone?
-
Posted this in the wrong place. How can I move to the Vista Section?
-
Is there anyone or anywhere I can download all the newest Vista updates in one place. Trying to download the updates from Update Catalog one by one is getting old. I know Vista sucks but we still get people who come in and want their Vista machine worked on.

Thanks again!
