.NET Framework 4.5 for XP / Server 2003 (x86-x64)
bphlpt replied to MAXtoriX's topic in Microsoft Windows XP
So bottom line, even though 4.5 or 4.51 can be "installed" on XP or 2003, it does no good, so don't bother. AFAIK, 4.0 is the last .NET that can be installed on XP and function correctly. Cheers and Regards- 16 replies

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 for Windows 7
bphlpt replied to abbodi1406's topic in Win Toolkit Addons
(2) Unlike in XP, earlier ".NET's" are now part of the OS, and are not designed to be removed, though I think they can be. And like XP, while .NET 4.5.1 completely replaces 4.5 and 4.0, it does not totally replace 3.5.1 and earlier in the sense that if you did remove 3.5.1 and earlier from your Win7 install, and a poorly written app looked specifically to see if 2.0 or 3.0 or 3.5 was installed, that app would fail even if you had 4.5.1 installed. At least that's the way I understand how things work. For (1), I'll let abodi1406 or someone else that knows more than I do about this particular addon answer that definitively, but my opinion is that when you do a new build each month or whatever, and you have new hotfixes, addons, tweaks, etc., you are better off starting from scratch, rather than trying to remove the outdated ones and add the new ones in their place. How change Modified Date Time
bphlpt replied to Tolios Giorgos WhiteDeath's topic in Microsoft Windows 7
Authorized sources are either directly from MS, downloaded from Digital River, or purchasing an original retail "hologram" DVD and key from a retail establishment or website or eBay or something similar. Acquiring such a retail DVD and key from a friend, who is no longer using either it or a system built from it, is also OK. An OEM DVD and key is alright, but AFAIK, officially it is only valid with the hardware it was originally distributed with. But that is pretty much it. I understand your points and many folks are sometimes confused by our being "picky", but for our board to stay on the right side of software suppliers like MS and our Ad services like Google, and so to be able to exist and remain open and not be hassled, that's the stance we have to take. Cheers and Regards -
While I agree that this seems to be the best approach: This still seems to be errant behavior which should be fixed, even if hardly ever used: Cheers and Regards

How change Modified Date Time
bphlpt replied to Tolios Giorgos WhiteDeath's topic in Microsoft Windows 7
Zer0, Any Windows OS image, modified or not, that is obtained from an unauthorized source, and the build named TeamOS x64 2014 is known to be distributed from an unauthorized source, is warez. Whether or not a key or serial is included has nothing to do with it. Once it is confirmed that any warez is involved we will no longer allow any discussion about its use or modification in any way, no matter if it is for personal use or redistribution. Period. [Theme] Vista Live Blue, Live Grey & Live Red for XP
bphlpt replied to rubab's topic in WPI, nLite and RVM Addons
Welcome back rubab ! Cheers and Regards -
Regardless of whether DISM supports multiple instances or not, I think this would just be asking for trouble on too many levels to even consider this. Confusion for the user is one. Some folks have trouble with being unable to delete partial builds as it is and I can see this as making this problem much more likely. It would have to slow things down and a build can already take hours when using HDD. Just seems like a bad idea. What could be an advantage? Cheers and Regards

If you specify an .ini file, does it still look in the "standard" locations, or if an .ini file is present does it only look in the locations you specify? Just for arguments sake, what if you specify an .ini file but you do not specify an INSTALLDIR at all in it, (say you only used the .ini file to specify a DRIVERDIR), does it not look for any apps? [sorry to be picky, just trying to get a handle on the program logic you used.] Cheers and Regards

If you do that, will it still be picked up automatically, or will you need to specify it in the .ini file you create? Cheers and Regards

How to customize WinPE to boot up with GUI environment.
bphlpt replied to Patrick Julian's topic in Microsoft Windows 7
You might want to check out this thread over at MSFN. Win7PE SE Looks like it might be what you are looking for. There are also versions that are based on Win8 and Win8.1. I believe that all three of them now include, or can access, JFX's WinNTSetup3 (v3.2.1) x86/x64 which, AFAIK, can be used to install Windows 2k/XP/2003/2008/2012/Vista/7/8.x x86/x64 Cheers and Regards -
@Vandit, No, I didn't try to install it since I don't use AxCrypt or any other encryption app. But I wouldn't think that JCM would purposefully put out an app with spam. EXACTLY what SPAM did you find? If it is there, I would think it was an accident which he will remove. But then, if whatever it is was included by the creator of AxCrypt which JCM just neglected to remove, then he still didn't do anything "wrong". If not, then that is a different matter, of course. Cheers and Regards

@BrokenZer0, I really think you would have more folks backing your approach if you could get rid of the superseded updates and the duplicates that aren't "twins". But that's just my opinion, of course. Congratulations on getting it all integrated without errors. Cheers and Regards

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 for Windows 7
bphlpt replied to abbodi1406's topic in Win Toolkit Addons
Not that I am aware of. Cheers and Regards -
@BrokenZero, As ianymaty said, new updates should be auto-selected. If an update is superseded, then why on earth would you want to keep it anyway? Having it moved to the "Old" folder is best, IMHO. You will still have it available if you ever need to use it at a later time, but Win Toolkit would not integrate it anyway, AFAIK, so that seems the best approach. Or did I misunderstand what you meant by "mark all additional". Cheers and Regards

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 for Windows 7
bphlpt replied to abbodi1406's topic in Win Toolkit Addons
This was made using Rick's hep and guidance. AFAIK, the essential difference is this is an addon while Rick's is a silent installer. Once installed, the results should be the same. Cheers and Regards
