  1. Only if something else expects it there, I would think. Cheers and Regards
  2. No, Win Toolkit is not set to automatically remove anything. If it did, then somehow you told it to. Instead of using an older version, why don't you use the latest? v1.4.29 is the latest stable build, available at the WinCert Downloads page, and v1.4.30.2 is the latest Beta build, available in Lego's sig by clicking "Latest Builds". Since you are having problems and to convince yourself that Win Toolkit is operating correctly, why don't you try doing a build removing nothing at all, making no tweaks, and adding nothing except the OS updates? If even that doesn't work, try one without even adding the updates. Be sure to check the MD5 of your source ISO to be sure it hasn't gotten damaged and download a fresh one from Digital River if in doubt. Once a basic build seems to be working correctly you can begin adding and removing things, not all at once, until you get the build you want. This approach will take longer, but you are much more likely to get the result you want and find your mistakes along the way. Good luck! EDIT: If you are still having trouble with Aero, be sure you have updated all of your video drivers, since as Kel reminded you in your other post, not all video cards can display Aero without drivers. Cheers and Regards
  3. I did some of the ones that were obvious they were about bugs from the first couple of pages just to make a start at this and left a redirection link as you asked. But after Lego approves and the redirection links have been there for a day or two, I would think that the redirection links should be removed. Otherwise, The main problem that ccl0 had: still remains. I also think that Lego might want to create a "[sOLVED] WinToolkit Bugs" subforum, either inside "WinToolkit Bugs" or parallel to it, to make his job easier to keep track of things he still needs to do, while still having the solved info available to the forum search function. Just a thought. Cheers anb Regards
  4. Just to play devil's advocate, surely you are not saying that WU/MU is never wrong. (See http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170814-fixed-kb2798897-comes-again/ for an example this month, which they did quickly fix.) Cheers and Regards
  5. LOL Good one Rick! Cheers and Regards
  6. If you get the latest test release of Win Toolkit, (click the link in Legolash2o's signature, "Latest Builds"), I believe those releases have access to updates. Cheers and Regards
  7. If you get the latest test release of Win Toolkit, (click the link in Legolash2o's signature, "Latest Builds"), I believe those releases have access to updates. Cheers and Regards
  8. This explains why it always opened in IE. Cheers and Regards
  9. LOL, Sorry, trying to do two things at once. Links above have been fixed. It was supposed to have been this. - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ie-tab-classic/miedgcmlgpmdagojnnbemlkgidepfjfi Cheers and Regards
  10. Thanks. That's useful to know. Cheers and Regards
  11. There is also an IE Tab for Chrome if you need it. This is the one I use. Cheers and Regards
  12. Thanks Rick! Glad to see you back. Cheers and Regards
  13. I would suggest talking with mr_smartepants about including the SAD2 script or its logic to accomplish this function. Cheers and Regards
  14. Lol, I have both of your Slims Packs and I been install both. So I only need to install 4.51. and not 4? Could this be causing the issue? (Big Brain Fart) :nuke: Correct. 4.51 completely replaces 4.0. So you use one or the other, not both. Cheers and Regards
  15. Glad you finally got your fan! Cheers and Regards
  16. Well, that was from a post five years ago. Put "check pagerank" in your favorite search engine to find several current alternatives. Cheers and Regards
  17. I would assume that it's probably used by people that began using it when there weren't many other good options and never changed because they were satisfied with the way it worked, or maybe they are using some kind of automated script that depends on it. In any case, it's always nice to have options. Cheers and Regards
  18. What are you talking about? Daemon Tools Lite as Rick has made it IS one of those stand-alone legal tools. (I won't argue the easier part though.) Cheers and Regards
  19. I'm sorry, but as long as you are using ANY other tools other than Win Toolkit itself, then I am going to believe that any errors you get are the fault of the other tool. Unless you get the error without using any other tools, then you should make your error reporting at a forum for the other tool. This is a forum for reporting errors caused by Win Toolkit, not for errors caused by another tool that happen to show up when you also use Win Toolkit. Cheers and Regards
  20. Since the methods that some of the other tools use are a bit of a "hack", and they sometimes literally "rip" things out of the install source, (since MS does not provide an official way to remove those things), I think it is surprising that some of the other tools work as well as they do. They are just not consistent in their success, but that is also likely doe to the hodgepodge mess that MS OS has become as they have continually added onto the previous versions. Remember, And, in some ways it has only gotten worse. (We're up to 64 bits now.) Then you should post that request in a forum for winreducer, or whatever the other tool is that you are using. Have you tried using the other tool after Win Toolkit, and if so what was the result? If there are still errors I would still blame the other tool, but I'm just curious. For the benefit of others that want to remove as much as possible from Win7, (I am not one of them since I've seen too many problems), you might want to start another informational thread and list everything you have been able to successfully remove, by which tool and in what order. A mini tutorial if you will. You should also list any problems that still exist and all features that no longer work, or options that are no longer there, since they were removed, regardless if that was the intention or not. Others could comment on their own methods and their successes or problems, Just a thought. Good luck! Cheers and Regards
  21. Regardless that "all the other things were removed without problems", unless you have the same issues without using "some other tools", I would tend to blame the problems on the "other tools". Since Win Toolkit uses official methods to remove components, which in general does not actually remove the components from the install source, but rather just doesn't install them, while other tolls often use tricks to rip out the components from the install source itself, I would assume that Win Toolkit is looking for something that is no longer there. It is usually not suggested to use more than one tool to modify an install source, especially remove components, but if you insist on doing so you could try to use the tools in the other order, ie use Win Toolkit first and the other tool after using Win Toolkit. Cheers and Regards
  22. Sorry, I'm not much of an expert on Win Toolkit. If you can't do it with Win Toolkit directly, I would think you might could do it through an answer file. I suggest starting a thread with Win Toolkit questions in the Win Toolkit subforum. Good Luck! Cheers and Regards
  23. Which tool? And do you know how the old IT Tech added the old apps back when? ie what form they are in and exactly where they are? Cheers and Regards
  24. What, the date in the thread title isn't enough? [slim] .NET Framework 4.5.1 Full x86/x64 (10-17-2013) I also have asked Rick to include a date or something in the actual name of the app, for the same reason you mentioned, but I can also understand the advantages that leaving the app name more "generic" gives when automating an install source build, so I guess we'll have to make do with the date in the thread title unless Rick can be persuaded. Cheers and Regards
  25. I'm sorry as well. But since this "Windows 7 Image" has extra non-MS stuff on it, and since you don't know how to remove them you apparently didn't put them on there yourself, so I am assuming that this image did not come from a legitimate approved distribution channel so it is in all likelihood "warez". We will not help you with that in any way per our board policies. Please read the forum rules. If you believe this is incorrect in your case, please explain exactly what the disk/image is,where you obtained it and any other information that you think will help your case. Cheers and Regards
