Are you talking about: 1) The last picture in post 7 seems to show that some of the updates are listed as "Install Pending", is that what you are calling an error? My understanding is that those things will be installed when the OS is actually installed, not when the WIM is built by Win Toolkit, so there really is no error. Isn't that correct? or 2) Or are you saying that you expected to see IE9 and WUA listed in that picture, and since they aren't, then that is the error? Have you tried installing your OS, either in VM or on real hardware, to see if the items were installed correctly after all? In other words, is the problem that the items are not installed, or just that they are not listed in that picture? or 3) Something else? Cheers and Regards

Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro and Agnitum Outpost Antivirus Pro Giveaway!
bphlpt replied to NIM's topic in Software Field
My opinion, and it's just that, is that you are correct that a hardware firewall via your router is absolutely the best approach. BUT, I also run a software firewall and active antivirus in addition to that. I know many people don't, but I do. And I'm careful where I go on the internet and what files I open. Maybe it's because of all that, or maybe I'm just lucky, but I've never had a virus infestation of any kind, and with the hardware and OS I'm running my response is adequate for my needs, so I plan to continue the practice. But to each their own. Cheers and Regards -
I don't know the answer to your question, but there is yet another option if you can't get the USB method to work and you are only able to use DVD installs and you don't want to go the DL route. You could split your installs into two parts - OS only, with maybe only a few critical apps and drivers, then the rest of the apps using WPI or whatever other method you prefer. The two parts could each be on their own medium so should each fit on a DVD, and this might add more flexibility and convenience for you both for installation and for maintenance. Just a thought. Add Downloads to Win7 Libraries on Windows Explorer

Have you tried Kel's suggestion to delete the specific items that Kel mentioned which are duplicates of other items that you also have in your build? Do that, then post details including your new Last Session.ini, specs on which exact source you used, the operating environment of the machine you used to make your build, and any other details you think might be pertinent, and we'll go from there. As to all the addons you listed, just because they make an addon, doesn't mean you have to include it in your build. Only include the ones you know you will use. You can always add another app to your running system if you find out later that you need it. Then you can add that app's addon to your next build. But let's get one working build made first before you try to add everything plus the kitchen sink to a build that is not proven yet. Cheers and Regards

NP. Better to fall behind on Win Toolkit than the studies! Cheers and Regards

A way that might work is if you have the user's Documents folder be relocated to somewhere outside the normal profile location, say "D:\Docs". Then you can preload whatever you want to in there and you will also not have to worry about extraneous "Vincent.000" type folders being created in the Profiles folder. I do this all the time, (relocate the various user's folders), so that the data survives an OS reinstall. Just another way to skin the cat. Cheers and Regards

[Howto] Integrate IE9-Windows7-x86-deu.exe with WT 1.5
bphlpt replied to foobuzz's topic in Win Toolkit
You could try GDism. (Full disclosure - I have not tried this yet, but I've heard some good things about it.) It's still DISM, but it has a GUI front end added to it you might like better. If you try it, please let us know how it goes. Cheers and Regards -
Seems that the Addon Maker is just smarter than folks expected. The behavior makes sense when you think about it, but with most tools you have to do more of the "translation" manually, while in this case the Addon Maker takes care of it automatically. However, it should also handle the manual method, which both dotfusion and myselfidem tried above, better as well. Cheers and Regards

For what it's worth, since that environment variable is only valid on a 64bit system, it seems that it is acting as is it doesn't realize that it is on a 64bit system, assuming that it is in fact on a 64bit system. But then if you are on a 64bit system, why are you trying to put in in the x86 Program files folder? is the app only a 32 bit app? Sorry for barging in, but I was curious. Cheers and Regards

Shouldn't Win Toolkit create that folder for you automatically if needed, or am I missing something? Cheers and Regards

You probably want to adjust the title of the thread (ie remove [solved]) until everyone agrees that this is either fixed, or it can't be fixed. Has it ever worked correctly for you with any previous version of Win Toolkit? If so, which was the last version that worked correctly that you are aware of? Which VM, and version, are you using? Same one you have always used? What is the OS of your real, host system? Same one you have always used? Any new combination of either tweaks or addons this time around that you haven't used successfully before? Have you tried a build with JUST this tweak, nothing else, no other tweaks and no addons, maybe not even IE9, just to see if it is some weird interaction? (I can envision IE possibly overruling this tweak somehow.) Can you try any of the above on real hardware to see if it might be an odd VM thing? Just thought I'd throw out some random thoughts that might, or might not, help identify the issue. Good luck and keep us informed of your progress. Cheers and Regards

Nah, I just think Lego didn't want to be distracted by the LARGE number of threads about stuff that have been taken care of a long time ago, or were just a misunderstanding from a user, or only applied to old versions and so are obsolete. That kind of thing. Yeah, I know that all those threads will automatically filter down to the bottom when they haven't been added to, but moving them out of the active area once they are taken care of means that Lego, and the public, don't have to worry about bumping threads that haven't been taken care of so they don't get forgotten just because Lego hasn't gotten to the lower priority items yet. I don't see it as anything other than that, so no need to be perplexed. Remember, as far as I know, this is the most active area of the entire Wincert forum, and will probably become the largest at the rate it's going, so a little housecleaning so things stay well organized benefit everyone. (A similar example from another forum you are probably familiar with... Remember how bad it got over at RyanVM's before ELiTE's apps were moved into their own sub-forum? Everyone else's stuff was getting buried and you couldn't find anything. A little organization is a good thing. ) Cheers and Regards

Since Liam's goal is really just to get the old stuff out of the way so info he needs access to is not buried and he doesn't overlook anything, I don't see why an OLD subforum section couldn't be created that is totally locked, only Liam or other admins can add anything to it, but the public could still have access to it so they could see the incredible progress this tool has gone through and all the folks that have been involved in its development. If anyone sees any topic in this area that they feel needs more discussion, they can send Liam a polite PM explaining their reasons and ask him to reopen the thread. I would think that would satisfy Liam's needs and address RicaNeaga's point as well. Cheers and Regards

Out of curiousity, HOW did you solve the problem? (In case anyone else also has the problem.) Cheers and Regards

And just to be totally clear, Kel, what you are saying is that the OP can totally delete all of the items you listed in the above posts since all of their functions are already included in other items he is including in his build. He will have no loss of function or capability in his build by deleting those items. If he continues to have any problems, he should then post details including his new Last Session.ini, specs on which exact source he used, the operating environment of the machine he used to make his build, and any other details he thinks might be pertinent, and we'll go from there. Personally, I would also suggest he first make a build with NO addons at all and make sure that the OS functions correctly, then add a few addons at a time to his build, testing after each build, until he has his finished solution. I know it's not the way he wants to do it, but it will be a heck of a lot easier to debug any problems that way. Cheers and Regards

Can you please give a detailed description on how to duplicate the problem to make sure that Legolash2o is able to properly address this issue? Cheers and Regards

Silent Installers dont appear to integrate to WiM image
bphlpt replied to yogurt's topic in Win Toolkit
All apps should be coded in such a way to allow spaces in both name and path, and I think Win Toolkit is coded correctly. But even if an app is coded in such a way, there is always the chance that an external app or function will be called that is poorly coded that does not handle spaces correctly, so why ask for trouble if you can avoid it? Even if Win Toolkit can handle spaces, to avoid a possible source of error, if you have control of it, you should always be sure neither the file name nor path have spaces in them, and the path and name should be as short as practically possible. Cheers and Regards -
Even if this is true, you might try running XP in a VM with all anti-virus temporarily disabled in both the VM and the host system, (disconnect from the internet while you are doing this if you are concerned), and building your new XP build under the XP in the VM just to see if you still have the same problems. If nothing else you could prove us wrong. Cheers and Regards

[Solved] Integrating Drivers and Dealing with Duplicates?
bphlpt replied to yogurt's topic in Win Toolkit
That one is definitely commercial Trialware. (Another commercial product I have had good success with in the past is FolderMatch, but it all depends on the app you get used to more than anything else, I supose.) Yes, the free version of Duplicate Cleaner is a one-feature app, find and move or delete duplicate files. But I've found it orders of magnitude faster at that one feature than Auslogics is, for example. One of the various duplicate file cleaner apps I've used in the past had the option to convert the duplicate entry to a symbolic link to the other entry, so all existing program shortcuts will continue to work, but the actual disc space used is reduced, but sorry, I don't remember which app that was that had that option and can't seem to find it at the moment. Maybe someone else will know about it. Cheers and Regards -
