  1. Apparently that was the issue, but it would be nice if it wasn't quite so "sensitive" because sometimes you just get curious and want to "see" what's happening. However, I understand that might not be something you have control over. Maybe force close explorer beforehand to avoid the error? I know of other software that will do that kind of thing, usually with a warning pop up you have to acknowledge it so at least you know what is going on. Cheers and Regards
  2. I thought .NET 3.5 and below were now part of the OS, so why need to install or enable it at all? Or did I miss something? Cheers and Regards
  3. Sent you a little something Kel. I hope it helps and things will improve for you. All the best my friend. Cheers and Regards
  4. Remember, this is NOT a RC version. Cheers and Regards
  5. Yeah, OP made the same post over at Wincert, at least in an appropriate thread. Cheers and Regards
  6. As of now, Classic Shell still works in Windows 8 Release Preview, but I have read those same words you have so I fully expect MS to continue to try and eliminate the user's options to suit MS's ill chosen desires. Cheers and Regards
  7. Well, yeah. It is RunOnce after all. Cheers and Regards
  8. I understand that Win Toolkit has specific circumstances that will cause an automatic reboot. But isn't there a way for the user to add some kind of command or script or xml entry or something that will force a reboot when executed? Would that satisfy the OP's needs? Cheers and Regards
  9. Of course we're all selfishly hoping you are planning to take the summer off from University to be able to devote yourself to more important things such as Win Toolkit. Cheers and Regards
  10. That being said, it is still a valid request to be shown how to integrate a VBScript using WinToolkit, more or less turn it into an addon that WinToolkit can integrate or add to RunOnce, I don't personally believe it will help with this particular script, but it's still a valid request, so how about it? Anyone able to show us how to do that? Thanks in advance. I would also appreciate it if the OP, or anyone else, could explain to me how this script is supposed to work. I'm sure I could learn something from it. Cheers and Regards
  11. The problem with your script, if I understand it, is that it depends on Windows Update already having been run, or possibly running it as the script runs, I'm not totally clear on the syntax. Anyway, it seems it does not make any sense to try and integrate this with Win Toolkit since I don't think it would do anything at all. This seems to be intended to run after the OS is installed, WU has been run, and you just don't want to be offered the update anymore. So no need to integrate it with the OS. Just keep it on a Data disk or USB, run it once after you have made at least one visit to WU and you're good to go. I emphasize that I have NOT actually tried this script, just briefly looked at it. If I am wrong, I hope someone will please enlighten me. I was hoping for something that could be integrated, or run at first logon, to "inoculate" the OS even before the first visit to WU so I would never have to see "updates" that I know I don't want. But that might not be possible. Cheers and Regards
  12. However, the argument could legitimately be made that it would be nice to be able to hide a user specified update from showing up in WU. There are many cases that various updates are offered by WU to a user that for one reason or another the user does not wish to have installed, such as the 20 or 30 various language option updates I always have to hide. They are a real pain to have to hide one at a time. As such, I would be interested in seeing the OP's script, sanitized of course with no mention of any particular update number, if he would be willing to share. Cheers and Regards
  13. @racky, I assume you were referring to the links Loeglash2o posted here - http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/8906-official-windows-7-sp1-disks/ (That thread is locked so I guess this is the next best place) I guess this further "legitimizes" those links. Cheers and Regards
  14. Welcome Back! I'm sure you did well on your exams. Cheers and Regards
  15. @caphp, you are wrong on both counts. Your not-so-helpful link just points essentially to Google, as I know you know, so it pointed nowhere. At least you could have filled in the search field for him. I don't consider myself a total idiot, but it took me a few moments to find a valid link for InstallWatchPro.v2.5c, freeware, which was what Legolash2o reccommended using. Having the correct app name helps. Here is one possible link http://www.brothersoft.com/installwatch-download-9407.html. Also torrents are very much alive and well, especially since several of the free hosting services no longer allow file sharing. In fact things like DriverPacks are officially distributed ONLY by torrent. Cheers and Regards
  16. Sorry Kel, I caught this over at Ryan's, but missed it here. Please keep up your great work at whatever pace is convenient for you. We will all try to be patient when waiting for updates. We understand how RL is more important. You and your work are valued and appreciated. Thank you for your time and efforts. Cheers and Regards my friend
  17. I am NOT necessarily endorsing this approach, but to save others the trouble of downloading this short text file, I'll reproduce it here. In the future dbcat11, I think that this is the preferred approach for instructions like this. Cheers and Regards
  18. I'm tempted to believe it's real time. Change your system clock and reload the page. Not only does it keep the correct time to match your system clock, but the background, ie daylight, changes to match. That was one heck of a project. Thanks N1K. Very cool! Translation of the text below: Cheers and Regards
  19. Thanks, Geej! Cheers and Regards
  20. Nope. Don't think so. Use ClassicShell - http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/ Cheers and Regards
  21. I think you are right. I've been told to NEVER use the "Easy Install" feature in VMware. Cheers and Regards
  22. Thank you Rick! Cheers and Regards
  23. Yes I agree. In fact, it seems to me to make sense to have one pack for all the Visual Runtimes, the way that RogueSpear used to have, but I'm sure others might disagree. Thanks for the explanation, Rick, about needing to uninstall the previous runtime redist prior to installing the new one. But since that is true, then I'm not sure I understand your point about the uninstaller being an unneeded "feature". Unneeded for a fresh install, but it seems needed for an update on a live system, or am I missing something? Cheers and Regards
  24. LOL - OK - I was thinking about the case if a new update comes out for 2010 next month. You can just run the updated installer on a live system and everything will work just fine, right? Or does it need to have the existing one uninstalled or not? Sorry, I'm a little bit confused. Cheers and Regards
  25. So no updating a live system with it? Cheers and Regards
