  1. Happy New Year and very Happy Holidays to all! Stay safe and enjoy time with those that are important to you. Cheers and Regards
  2. I don't want to be a hog, but one of each please? If that's not appropriate, then WinX DVD Copy Pro please. As Always, Thanks in advance, N1K! Cheers and Regards
  3. Actually crashfly, W7T might be having some issues dealing with office updates right now, if the posts here are any indication - http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?/topic/9269-office-update-extractor-delete-everything/. Cheers and Regards
  4. I do, just like I also add the version numbers to dumpydooby's Shark007 codec releases. NP Not an issue, was just a suggestion. I understand your reasons. Many Thanks again for making the installer, and the scripts, for the benefit of us all. Cheers and Regards
  5. Thanks Rick. You forgot to update the download date in the first post, the hashes are correct though, and I didn't see mention of KB2619340 in the first post description. Thanks again! Cheers and Regards EDIT: Thanks for the corrections!
  6. Thanks rick. That really does help. I still would prefer to have some kind of designation in the file name so I could tell at a glance without having to check the properties. Ideally, for me, some kind of date code, similar to the way you do for the title of this thread, but in year-month-day order so it would sort easier, (dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64_SlimSetup-2011-12-16.exe), but just a number would do, like Liam uses for W7T (W7T130-82B.7z). But at least it's there now in the properties. Thanks again. Cheers and Regards
  7. As a general rule, I never use the desktop for that type of thing. I always use a folder, with a short name with no spaces, located at the root of whatever drive you want to use, such as "D:\W7T12". Windows 7 and programs today are better than they used to be about having issues with either protected space, long path names or spaces in the path name, but it still sometimes occurs, so I figure, "Why not eliminate any potential problems?" Just my two cents. But you're right that if this is a bug it should be eliminated if possible. Cheers and Regards
  8. A Very Merry Christmas. a Prosperous New Year, and Happy Holidays to everyone! Cheers and Warmest Regards!
  9. Instead of saying you need the latest SoLoR pack, though that is the best advice, you could narrow it down a little with "Make sure you slipstream latest SoLoR's updates dealing with ...... for this to work.", assuming you could adequately describe the category of the updates that effect this behavior. But then if that update is superseded by a SP or some other kind of rollup later then that wouldn't help much either. Sticking with the generic description is "safer", but is overkill. Cheers and Regards
  10. This post might help you as well - http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?/topic/9217-proyecto-windows-7-sp1-actualizado/[./url] - It's in Spanish, but If you translate it with Google , Bing, or your favorite translator, it should be fairly clear. Cheers and Regards
  11. Another reason for the reg file is that it could then be imported at another time to re-implement the same tweaks on another run. While those tweaks can already be saved and redone later, the advantage of offering this optional way to do it would be that if you already have another set of tweaks in a reg file that were created by another tool or by hand, then they could still be used by W7T. But I believe this import option is already available among the growing list of W7T options, so just consider it completing the symmetrical optional methods. LOL Cheers and Regards
  12. Is the free license only good for new members N1K? You know me, I'll always signup for free software. You never know... But if you just want to put me on a waiting list for if not enough new members ask for it, then that's fine as well. np Cheers and Regards
  13. Hey Rick, Many Thanks for this! Do you think you might could start adding either a version number or preferably a date code to your installer to make it easier to make sure I have the latest? Cheers and Regards
  14. Be careful, or I think you'll end up not being able to install Office. (removing Japanese causes this problem if I remember right) Cheers and Regards
  15. I didn't think that was what that feature did either. But good to hear it confirmed from the creator. I can see how it could be a handy feature, however. Cheers and Regards
  16. To further clarify what Kel is saying, and to use the very examples you referenced, "Windows XP Pro MCE SP3", or "Windows XP TabletPC Edition SP3", both of those addons do NOT change the the licensing schema, to either MCE or TabletPC. They add the functionality while keeping the same XP Pro/VLK license. That's the difference between those addons and what you are trying to do. We sympathize, we really do, but our hands are tied. Cheers and Regards
  17. @abuodwan007, Something to keep in mind is that sometimes WU does not offer an update as appropriate until AFTER you install a different update first. So you might not get all the necessary updates offered to you the first time you check. (Like you don't get offered the IE9 updates until after you install IE9.) Also, "kb947821 (System Update Readiness Tool)" is just that, a TOOL, not an update. It's offered through the update channel, but it is not necessary and you can ignore it if you wish. But as Kel and Lego have both mentioned, if you find you didn't get the full list the first time you tested, then add the missing ones to the list and try again. What exactly are you wanting us to heeeeeeeeelp youuuuuuu do? Evaluate your list of tweaks? Why? To see if they caused the need for the "extra" updates? So what if they did? Add them and try again. Cheers and Regards
  18. @Tarun, I understand your point, and I'm also a big fan of Mark Russinovich. But this tool that Legolash2o provided, at the request of ar_seven_am, is not being marketed as a Memory Optimizer. (It's not being marketed at all. LOL) * It does not do the "allocating, then freeing, large amounts of virtual memory" trick. therefore it does not cause the performance degradation Mark explains could happen as a result. * It does not do anything to try to defragment memory, so it does not run afoul of this false claim. * It does not claim to regain memory lost to leaks. * It makes no claims for improved performance at all. * It is FREE. It was not originally written as a separate app at all. It was originally written by Legolash2o to solve a problem within W7T where some memory was not being released appropriately within his own app that he wrote. So he wrote this to do that one thing, and that one thing only, to release the memory that he was done with and knew was supposed to be released so he could use it for something else during the app's execution. He didn't try to pitch this solution to anyone else. If all app makers were as conscientious about trying to clean up after themselves, then the memory manager's job would be much easier, don't you agree? Yes, you, and Mark, are correct that the memory manager should eventually release all memory that was not needed. But since Legolash2o KNEW he was done with that memory, as a responsible app maker, isn't it a good thing that he went ahead and released it? Even without Legolash2o promoting this cleanup routine he added, ar_seven_am perceived a difference in the the app's performance. He then asked if Legolash2o could break the routine out into a stand alone app so that he could see if other apps might benefit as well, and Legolash2o graciously agreed and posted it here for anyone to try it if they wanted to. He has also committed to releasing the source if there are any further code changes. As N1K has stated, this app, like W7T, is and will remain a FREE app. You, and everyone else, are welcome to try the app, or not, as you see fit. If you don't perceive a difference, or just don't want it on your system for whatever reason, then uninstall it or don't install it in the first place. Yes, ar_seven_am probably overreacted a little when you lumped this tool in with other 'garbageware RAM "optimizers"', but your statement was also a bit over the top, IMHO. Now that everyone has expressed their opinion, let's all just leave it at that. If anyone, would post their experiences after testing this tool, good or bad, then THAT would be useful information for everyone's benefit. Cheers and Regards
  19. There is actually a pretty good start to one in the Spanish section http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?/topic/9217-proyecto-windows-7-sp1-actualizado/. Google translate does a decent job translating it to English. I think that is the type of tutorial that will help a lot of people. Cheers and Regards
  20. @laddanator, why don't you send IcemanND a PM and post back here if you find out anything, I'm sure there are others that would be interested, maybe even as a super install/repair disk with XP, Vista, Win7, and perhaps others. @rick, not exactly point and click, but it seems very complete and detailed. Thanks for the link. Cheers and Regards
  21. Sorry I missed this thread, N1k! Congratulations indeed! Hope things are still progressing along great! Cheers and Regards
  22. Apparently this is an extended celebration! LOL Cheers and Regards
  23. rick is around. I'd send him a PM in case he's just missed this thread. Cheers and Regards
  24. Thanks! Link works fine. Cheers and Regards
  25. You use all the driver's files, you just have to make sure the INF file is exposed. Ie if the divers files are all in either a zip or exe file, with no INF file, then extract EVERYTHING from that file using 7Zip and copy the contents to a folder so that the INF file is now exposed. Then select that folder. Cheers and Regards
