  1. This same old error is back and it is due to a bug in the forum software. To get around it, until it is, if ever, fixed, right-click the Download image/button and choose open link in a new tab/window. That will always work. Cheers and Regards
  2. I THINK this is correct. Updates and drivers first. Then addons, tweaks, and removals. Then sysprep. Cheers and Regards
  3. Thanks. Logging into hotmail first was apparently the trick. I haven't had to do that to download from skydrive before, but it's been awhile since I've used it so maybe something has changed? Anyway, your instructions work for both firefox and Chrome (Iron), so it might be helpful to add them to the first post to help others? Cheers and Regards
  4. Could you please double check the file. For some reason I can't seem to download this file. Thanks in advance. Cheers and Regards
  5. I know a lot of people like to do this kind of thing, but I don't. Anytime you update anything through WU/MU there is a chance that your customizations will be undone. After that happened to me a few times it got to be "Why bother?" If there is an easy way to undo/redo the customizations at any time on a running system, while not interfering with anything else, then that could be handy/fun/harmless. I personally don't see the big need for this, but I'll go along with what the majority wants. Cheers and Regards
  6. Hey Kel! I'd be happy to have a license for both of these apps please. Thanks in advance. Cheers and Regards
  7. Thanks user_hidden. I had forgotten about that back and forth between YumeYao and code65536. Thanks for reminding me. And I agree that an automated way of producing the stub along with the reg key code would be handy for those who are not using one of the XP packs - say for use in Win7? Cheers and Regards
  8. Rick would not do that, and I don't know if it would be possible for someone else to sabotage the addon, so I think you either got the virus from elsewhere or it was a false positive. Can you provide more information or proof? If it really is there, and I doubt it, then I'm sure rick will fix it. Cheers and Regards

  10. My thought was wondering if you could add a "fake" MRT with the right name and version number along with the appropriate reg key. I would think the fake MRT should be made of minimum size such that it it was called for some reason that it simply returns with a "0" error code, unless the real MRT returns something different. Anyway, it was just a thought. Cheers and Regards
  11. If you can find some, please pass along a link. I would think that with the potential size of the registry and the scattered places that there might be small changes that there is probably not a publicly available change log, at least not one that could help verify whether every available tweak for XP would work in Win 7 or not. Cheers and Regards
  12. I wonder how closely MU checks for the file. Would any file with the right name satisfy MU or does it check for right size, MD5, properly signed, or what? Cheers and Regards
  13. I think this would be a good approach. Would still allow the function but have less chance of being accidentally tripped. Cheers and Regards
  14. Yes, Kel is awesome. But, ?????? Cheers and Regards
  15. I don't know about Lego, but I'm lost. Could you give an example of your envisioned syntax, and also explain when in the install process these would run (beginning, end?) and what would trigger them? Cheers and Regards
  16. NO - unfortunately. Which frameworks you need ultimately depend on what software you use and which frameworks they require. To be able to be sure you are always prepared will require them all. Do you NEED them? That's up for debate and up to the software you use. Cheers and Regards
  17. LOL. This definitely couldn't hurt. Cheers and Regards
  18. I think the faster boot times are primarily due to the use of a hybrid hibernation mode as the normal shutdown mode. Cheers and Regards
  19. Also, please note this is a Tool, not an actual update. Even if you do download it, you don't integrate it in your source, you run it on a live system so it can check for potential problems. Cheers and Regards
  20. @crashfly - Can you verify whether it is the .NET 4 installer that is the culprit? I don't think it is, but if it is then I'll help get the word to Troubada/Trinket so he can resolve the issue, once you have verified the need. Cheers and Regards
  21. Hey Legolash2o, I wasn't quite sure where to put this, so if you can think of a better place, then please move it. Over at RyanVM's, ChiefZeke, user_hidden, and Kel participated in a thread putting together a tutorial on how to create, using WAIK, an integrated x86/x64 Windows 7 DVD while still allowing repair options for both x86 and x64. As Kel said - "this is a must for any enthusiast!" It is also agreed that using Windows 7 Toolkit should make this job easier and faster. I would think it would be a great showpiece for Windows 7 Toolkit, and provide a service for the community if someone could update user_hidden's latest Tutorial - http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=113489#113489 - using Windows 7 Toolkit instead of WAIK. It sure would be nice to have. Any possibility of getting this? Cheers and Regards

    NET 4

Wow, I guess so. Drivers require .Net 4? OK, I just never heard of that being necessary, but I don't doubt you. That just won't help me for testing, since I don't have a Pavilion. Cheers and Regards

    NET 4

What applications require .Net 4 in order to install? I've been trying to find some for testing purposes. This, I understand. You mean like WPI? Cheers and Regards

    NET 4

It requires .Net 4 before OOBE? .Net 2-3-3.5 should already be in place since they are inherent to the OS. No disrespect, but this is the first, and only, posting I've seen on any forum that mentions a requirement for ,Net 4 before OOBE. I would have thought I would have seen this issue being raised before now.

    NET 4

For more .Net 4 Goodness, check out - http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9013 - There are actually a couple of different installers discussed in this thread, and the differences between them - one from n0ak and one from troubada (trobada @RyanVM = Trinket @MDL), both work well. The tutorials are referenced here as well, also based on those from ricktendo64. The current latest ,Net 4 installer from Trinket/troubada, updated yesterday is here - http://www.mediafire.com/?m424tonun8rhtp1. Cheers and Regards
