I found that by using SSDs, the build time is greatly reduced. Image mounted on one drive, updates on another.

My Core i3-550 box (6GB RAM) at work took more than 4 hours to do a recent build on ONE image (ULT). It has a single platter HD.

The Core i7-920 station at home (24GB RAM) boots from a Revo Drive 3 and works with a 2nd 64GB SSD. Did same work in less than one hour!

I would certainly suggest starting simple, just slipstreaming the hundreds of updates available since SP1.

THEN, maybe, move forward with the other stuff. Having a 2nd hard drive will be a BIG help for what you're doing. They don't need to be SSDs.

(But it goes REALLY FAST if they are!)

Good luck, from rainy and stormy Atlanta (thanks to Isaac).

Im doing all the images from an ulitmate disc. I have a 2nd sata drive connected thats 10k rmp and 32mb cache r u saying use that drive instead of my main and the speed should increase?

My setup is similar to Marks's. I also use an SSD and a 2nd hard drive where all my updates are. I use an I5 laptop and I get more than 300 updates done in 2 hrs. The idea is to use multiple "spindles" when possible to increase the read/write throughput. In our case we are lucky to have an SSD as a "spindle" but a 10K drive must be a screamer as well.

I just created a disc using x64 and all 5 images on the disc and just added some tweaks, addons, silent installers, and all post sp1 updates and it took 1 hour and 2 mins :) woohoo

....Thats why I use KUC to scan my mounted image and tell me what to integrate

Just a small question, not really having to do with the topic:

does KUC work with updates in ALL languages? I'm using german Win7 Prof.
