Posted September 6, 201212 yr Does anybody know approximately how much space the non-enterprise version of Windows 8 takes up after being installed. In other words, is the disk footprint larger or smaller than the 26-32GB that Windows 7 takes up before apps are installed.
September 7, 201212 yr I have not had it installed long enough to notice. Will only switch to Windows 8 if I can get a WMC upgrade serial
September 7, 201212 yr Does anybody know approximately how much space the non-enterprise version of Windows 8 takes up after being installed. In other words, is the disk footprint larger or smaller than the 26-32GB that Windows 7 takes up before apps are installed. Can I ask WHY your Win7 installation is taking up SO mauch space? The AVERAGE Win7 installation (Not including hyberfile and pagefile) is less than 15gigs.My Win7 x64 Ultimate installation I reinstalled a week ago is only 20.3 gigs after having all of my progs installed and ALL updates. After a quick test a Base Win7 ultiamte install on a 2gig ram system is 8.3gigs.
September 7, 201212 yr Author Yes, I stand corrected, my count included the page and hibernation files. It's about 14-16GB, without those. Edited September 7, 201212 yr by BYTE-ME
September 7, 201212 yr Don't forget though that pagefile and hibernate take up a large amount of space and i usually move them to another partition (HDD).
