[Help] SMART error, backup and replace drive

Recommended Posts

Posted

So I been having problems with my HDD freezing, its a: 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 (desktop sized)

I updated the firmware and now the problem is worse (or finally clear, because I did not get the SMART error before fw update.) I notice allot of people having similar problems with this drive

On boot I get a SMART error saying I should back up and replace drive, press F1 to continue...In AIDA64 it also shows up (I also get a Windows error message)

Does anybody know a cheap way of maybe fixing the problem, other than replacing the disk (cant afford one and I cant do this either :P)
