I've also tried removing most if not all of the green components, but after installation I couldn't boot up in the system anymore, so u need to be careful with what u select. I know for a fact that removing only the metro apps works.

Yes I had the same thing, Win8 isnt fully implemented yet I think. But Win7 is, I removed all of the green components and my system is slimmed down and fully operational.

Any errors in the Event Viewer?  I'm curious and also wary about removing stuff that result in annoying logs.

Nope, no errors or warnings whatsoever, everything working smoothly so far :D

The only things I found so far broken after 3 months of use is :


Parental controls  (Needed for some games :/ )
Store App
Experience index
Xps Veiwer: for old xps files

 

Also have to do this thing to install .net 3.5

Lego, could u maybe plz post the components that are safe to remove on windows 8 which will produce a working system. For whatever reason I cannot get a functional win8 system when removing all the of the green components :S
