JTWang Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Hi All, Has anyone here heavily tried/used these alternatives:http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/35650-Creating-a-Windows-8-1-AIO-with-Media-Center-manuallyhttp://www.winreducer.net/http://www.nliteos.com/If so, how do they compare to Windows Toolkit IYO? I'm wanting to create a bootable Window 7 Ultimate USB flash drive...But, I also want to merge a Windows 8 Pro Upgrade into that install environment. The copy of Windows 8 Pro I've bought is a upgrade only, + it's a single license only.So I'm worried I'll run into problems trying to merge them into a bootable install env? Plus, how big would my USB flash drive need to be?I understand 4GB should suffice for Win 7 Ultimate, but maybe I need much more space if I merge Win 8 Pro Upgrade. Thank-you. Quote
Kelsenellenelvian Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Nlite is for xp era os's only so that's not good for your uses. JTWang 1 Quote
spidernz Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Win reducer is great for removing components and shrinking the iso, it contains more in depth removals compared to win toolkit, eventually both wintoolkit and winreducer in the long run are heading towards the same ending of being a single tool needed for modifying images. so they're the same but different at this stage. http://forums.mydigi...Center-manually : is for integrating wmc into your iso's but also show's you how to have a multi images of the same base. With regards to AIO across multiple windows bases i would search through mdl forums they would probably have the info there. JTWang 1 Quote
Tuesday77 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) I think about to compare all other tools with WTK and create a mega request for it.So at the end, if all would be included, other existing tools then are just shadows. ATM im on a other mega project, the "zer0 edition" means a custom lite, after its done, i probably go for it. I think:-> U will need a 8 GB stick and its fine.-> Try work with WIM-Manager/,-Tools to merge.-> U can use ur upgrade-serial for Pro 8.1 (normal iso/wim) Greez Edited January 24, 2014 by BrokenZer0 JTWang 1 Quote

Pretty much yes, I use WTK first to integrate all the updates and things, then use win reducer to slim the image down, then finish off with wtk for silent install & tweaks etc, though u can use win reducer too for the last part. Always test between the tools to make sure your image it ok and working JTWang 1 Quote
Tuesday77 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Okay. I try to explain again, short version:- I will soon compare all WinToolKit-Alternatives and make a request-thread about the differents.(At the moment, WinToolKit is already the best tool and I have something to do before i can go for it.)- I think, you can use your serial for a downloaded Win8 ISO, an "Upgrade"-Disk or what ever is not need.(The license allow you using a Win8 Pro copy, i think no matter if its from upgrade disk or win8 RTM ISO.)- I think, you can use AIO-Disk Creator from WinToolKit for make an Universal-Install-Disk/USB-Stick.(You can export the Win7 and Win8 install.wims and merge into one install.wim with the tools)- I think, you will need more as 4 GB for this, maybe 8 GB would be enough. With regards to this i'm not to sure maybe load a windows 8 iso into virtualbox/vmware etc and see if the normal iso will take the key, it should from what i've breifly read Also this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/windows-os-software/735517-how-install-windows-8-1-clean-your-windows-8-upgrade-key.html Ps: MDL forums would have a lot more information about this so check them out too.
