Some problems with the new WinToolkit Installer

Hi Lego,

since 1.4.34.10 I get some problems during installation:

1) Something in the McRip's SystemFiles causes a second start of the WinToolkit Installer: the installation process starts parallel again from the beginning; if I don't quickly abort the second start or if I'm not present the second instance reaches again the McRip's Silent-Installer and a third instance of WTK installer is started, and so on.

2) On all the Silent Installers with the switches "/Q or /passive /norestart" I get an error and must hit "OK" to continue the installation.

3) On all the MSI-based installers the installation process stops because of the commandline commands (ClasssicShell, Skype, Shark007, Windows-7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool): I must hit OK, but the program doesn't install.

All this did NOT happen until 1.4.34.5!

After WinToolkit installer has finished, all those programs with faulty installation can be installed with ABSOLUTELY the same silent switches.

I've fixed classic shell error and multiple runonce windows issues.

On the exe ones, even if I run them manually with the switches they don't install silently so i dont think it's a RunOnce error. I don't have access or links to the rest of the installers to test them

What do you mean with "exe ones"?

Check back in your example (Shark007). Link to as many as you feel like

Also, if you can. Can you please use WIM Registry Editor on that image and export/upload HKLM\\Software\\WinToolkit as that has all the switch and everything like that.

Hi Lego,

don't ask me how and why, but with the new version 1.4.34.13 only two programs haven't been installed,

those with switches /passive /norestart:

msxml_4_SP3::/passive /norestart

msxml4-KB2758694-deu_x64::/passive /norestart

all other programs have been installed.

Sorry, I need some more time because

1) I do not remember, which version the last was, I didn't have the issues with

2) I made my last try-installations with a small INI (only not integratable win-updates in sfx-silent), but it seems some run timings are causing some of this files not to get installed.

the same issue like in Post #1 (point 2 and 3), appears again in 1.4.36.1 :sad02:; the rest seems to be OK.
BTW: the last version I didnt had this issues with, was 1.4.34.5.

Found the issue once and for all. Will upload now SharkCodec doesn't even install silently even when ran manually with switches. Neither does USB/DVD tool

UPDATE: GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, I've just had to release 1.4.36.2 to fix a bug which shouldn't have need to be fixed. Basically, visual studio told me to try something when it analysed my code and it actually screwed that part up. So i've just undone it.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience. I won't release anymore this weekend. Just test builds.

@ETZ, you might want to check this out - Shark007's Codec Pack Maker 3.0.0. It should be able to make an installer for you from the official Shark007 downloads that strips all of the unwanted stuff out of it. I think it also allows installation unattended, but I install it attended myself. If nothing else I'm sure Escorpiom would appreciate some feedback for installation attempts in Windows 8.x.

NOTE: You might need to be a member to get to that forum thread if you are not already, but don't worry, it's free and many of the members here are members there as well. I'm sure you'll see some familiar folks.

I use K-Lite pack myself in conjunction with WMP (As K-lite pack is fully unattended and configurable via external install file) and I cannot remember my RyanVM forum logon details, but this is totally OT, I guess...

Also Lego made major improvements to WinToolkit Installer lately, making possible to Install stuff, with external config files possible in WinToolkit too.

Of course can Shark codecs be installed silently and without toolbars & co.!

You must unpack (7zip) the original-installer and use only the exe-file:

Advanced.exe /S /v/qn for the 32bit-codecs

Advanced_x64Components.exe -ai for the additional x64-components

After the installation the installed codecs starts and calls the IE, but don't worry, it doesn't stops the installation of the following silent installers!

BTW, this is not growing on my efforts, it's in the Shark007-forum!

On EVERY windows-patch files comes an error and it doesn't installs, even if it get a "green-check"

All other programs installs correctly, Shark007 and WIN-USB-Download-Tool too.
