@Thiersee,

:doh: Correction done and uploaded.

Concerning the 2 telemetry KBs, I included them in "Windows 10 upgrade and telemetry related updates" : since nobody really knows what this telemetry reports to M$, I prefer to keep them in this quarantine section. So no need to create a new category at this time.

@HackedPwned,

@ftvm06,

Hi rhahgleuhargh,

KB2990214, KB3050265 (both in the ULs) & KB3065987 (replaced by KB3075851 but still in .vbs-script) seem not to be requested by WU anymore.

On a fresh installation I first run the .vbs-script to hide all the W10-KBs: 10 KBs went under "Hidden"; then I restored them and WU did not ask for them, only for 7 KBs (BTW, the same classified as W10 in WHD).

Have a nice week end.

Thiersee

Edit:

Of course, just after this post WU asked for KB3065987 (may be because kb3075851 has been hidden) :ranting: :ranting: :ranting:!

Previously, If choose not to integrate KB3075851 & integrate instead WUA 7.6.7600.320 cabs WU will ask KB3075851 - "enhanced" & "improved" WUA which adds telemetry from superseded 2990214, 3050265 & 3065987 - If you hide 5851 WU asks for previous... 3056987, hide that, 3050265... etc. I uninstalled KB3075851 (which reset WU history) then before reboot add via DISM Old "New" Win Updt Agent 7.6.7600.320 from list, also direct links below:

After that hide in successive WU check above KB's.

I will test fresh VM w/o KB3075851 & report.

HTH & have a good weekend all.

@Thiersee,

I let these updates in script because most of them were asked by WU after reboot during my tests, as you see. And I'm too lazy to make tests with W10 updates...

@Pink_Freud,

Thank you for these infos and your future report. I will edit script if needed.

Good WE too !

Bonjour,

Cordialement

@ftvm06,

@Thiersee and Pink_Freud,

Finally I made some tests with W10 updates and I confirm your results :

Only KB2952664, KB3035583, KB3068708, KB3021917 and KB3075851 are first asked by WU when .vbs script is not launched after fresh installation.

Hiding these updates makes KB3065987 asked by WU, hiding this one makes KB2990214 and KB3050265 asked by WU.

So, all these updates still need to be placed in .vbs script as it is the case actually (there are 10 hidden updates including last optional telemetry updates).

For the next release I'll delete KB2990214 and KB3050265 from ULs.

@rhahgleuhargh

First I want to express my gratitude, for all the good work you've done. And also to all the other persons, who have also contributed to accomplish these UL files.

I only have a question about this vbs script. It's takes more than 25 minutes to hide all these unwanted files. Is this normal?
It's placed in "runonce" section of WTK and last executed.

Posted

@Camino,

I only tested this script in a virtual machine and it took up to 5 minutes to finish. Some users reported a long time. Script didn't crash since all updates were hidden.

It depends of your configuration, your Internet connexion, and WU server activity. You can also extract the .vbs script from SFX, and launch it after your first boot, before you go to Windows Update.

I think I'll reformat my real machine next week after my Windows 10 migration activation. I'll report here if it's so long.

Hello,

@lolo03,

@Thiersee,

I saw it, it's an update for WU client. No additional info about it, particularly if it adds telemetry report or no... Actually it's an optional update, I suggest to wait for next patch tuesday before install it.

Posted

WU client (WU Agent) got updated only 2 times since the release of SP1

but this year and for the seek of Windows10, it's now had around 7 updates and counting :D

bottom line, any future WU client update should be treated as Windows10 related, without any investigation needed

because even if the update itself doesn't have any fix to the upgrade process, it already contain all the previous updates code which are designed for upgrading to Windows10

@abbodi1406,

Thanks for the info, and all the great work you do (I follow "Windows hotfixes repository" and "patch WMC to run on W10 topics" in MDL forum) !

.vbs script and ULs updated.

Changelog :

Updates : KB3092627 remplace KB3076895

W10 and telemetry updates : KB3083324
