Hello,

Hi,

I got the same error in the last couple of day, at least after the last correction-patch KB2993651;

very often there was no connection to MS-Server, not only on a new installed VM, on my work-pc too.

@Thiersee: good to know, maybe MS will throw a patch about that.

Hello !

I think you are right for the server.

I tried again today, and the server found 3 updates with the last update list from August 27th (KB2965788, Windows Defender, and KB890830 of August).

Hello,

I just have a look on WU on my x64 configuration, KB2970228 is only asked in optional updates. So, no need at this moment to place it in ULs.

I prefer to wait for the next patch tuesday to update ULs.

It was not a request, only an info.

I know it was not a request, and your infos are very helpfull since I'm very busy in real life and don't have always the time to fully check the updates !

But it's just strange, this KB was a prioritary update at the august update patch...

First link (post #109):

  • Known issue 1
    Fonts do not render correctly after any of the following updates (that are released before September 2, 2014) are installed:
    2982791 MS14-045: Description of the security update for kernel-mode drivers: August 12, 2014
    2970228 Update to support the new currency symbol for the Russian ruble in Windows
    2975719 August 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2
    2975331 August 2014 update rollup for Windows RT, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012
    Status
    The following update replaces update 2982791 and resolves this known issue:

    2993651 MS14-045: Description of the security update for kernel-mode drivers: August 27, 2014
    Mitigations
    Open the Programs and Features item in Control Panel, and then click View installed updates. Find and then uninstall any of the following updates that are currently installed:
    • KB2982791
    • KB2970228
    • KB2975719
    • KB2975331

But it's just strange, this KB was a prioritary update at the august update patch...

Microsoft recommended to uninstall KB2970228, if installed before 02.09.2014 and then outputs the same patch AFTER 02.09.2014 as optional;

this is the reason, because I marked red the release-date.

Edit:

Please, have a look here (post #9467 & #9468) and leave the "old" link from 27.08.2014 for KB2993651 in the UL.

There are a couple more updates, but they are not part of the windows-UL (FW 4.5.2, Office, MSE)

Edit:

If you look for replaced updates MS says KB2977629 replaced KB2962872 (https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms14-052)...

Of course this is not right, KB2962872 was already replaced by KB2976627 in august.

I did not see other replaced updates.

Edit 2:

KB2977629  is cumulative ONLY for english, for other languages KB2976627 is still needed;

have a look to MDL: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/19461-Windows-7-Hotfix-repository/page948 (post #9474)

Bonjour,

tests en réel sur partition formatées x86 et x64

je confirme :

KB2977629 IE sécurité cumulative qui en fait n'est pas cumulative : il faut garder KB2929437 et KB2976627

KB2894844 DNF3.5 sécurité
KB2972211 DNF3.5 sécurité
KB2973112 DNF3.5 sécurité

KB2977728
KB2978092

.....

Hi icare,

the problem is KB2993651 and NOT KB2970228; if you integrate the "companion" file of the "new" KB2970228 (03-09-2014), then WU will ask again for it!

If you integrate the old one WU does NOT ask again for it.

Google Translate:

Bonjour,

@Thiersee,

TNX!

OK, may be MS saw his mistake and updated the server ;).

Anyway I just downloaded the patch and it has the right MD5-Checksum.

BTW, the "companion" of KB2970228 is still the wrong one...

Hello,

@non-french users : For non-European users, KB97602 is useless.

Merci rhahgleuhargh.

You can uncheck or delete of the ULs..... KB2976627 in IE 11 section, since KB2977629 seems to be cumulative for english users (please check and report, I only have a french version of Windows 7).....

I would not delete it.
