Hi @Lego,

I wanted to apply Windows 8.1 theme in "Windows 8/8.1 Theme for Windows 7" package (http://mare-m.deviantart.com/art/Windows-8-8-1-Theme-for-Windows-7-318932206) with Win ToolKit. Unfortunately, the results are like the below Picture.

*** Theme that should be:

Kg3BoZ.jpg

The steps of the application are in sequence below:

1- First of all, I installed patch the current os from http://www.uxstyle.com/

2- Then i copied the theme (i liked named “Windows 8.1 Lines") in the Mare-m’s package to "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes” with all folders and files.

3-  I chose a "Windows 8.1 Line" theme that i liked in the current os and i "save as" the theme by changing desktop picture.
(Here is my edited Windows 8.1 Line .themepack): http://www.datafilehost.com/d/36bcbab3)

4- I created a  silent install with NSIS + SFX Maker to copy all files and folders of Windows Line 8.1 to "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes” during the installation with WinToolKit.

5- I marked the “default theme” with Win ToolKit.

6- Finally,  i certainly did not forget to mark "Use third party themes tweak” from the “Tweaks” section.

Installation was without a problem. However, when i go to the desktop,  the results are like the above. When i checked it, I saw that all necessary "windows 8.1 Line" files and folders are copied to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes". But, the default theme was like the above. I don’t know whether the problem is because of my procedures or because of a problem in theme patch of Win ToolKit? :g:

The theme works but only if the Display Driver is installed first ;) AS we all know , that is impossible for the momment !

So, the implemented Theme will be activated only when Display driver is properly installed and rebooted !

You need to integrate some display drivers to be installed before the theme is ready to apply !

check this Microsoft link of how to do ! : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd759162.aspx

I hope this will asnwer your question for a while !

Hi, @KEİGHT

You may be right for the driver. However, you see the screen shot I got after only i installed the theme patch and added the theme manually (without installing any display driver in the Virtualbox). So, the theme works without adding the display driver.

I still think that the problem is with the theme patch in Win ToolKit. :g:

ok, let me explain better for you ! {Virtual box has it's display driver , you can't install any driver on VB}

So. you need a real HDD to verify your work !

Try the latest test build but you also need to re-apply the tweak in AIO-Integrator.

EDIT: In test 16 (when released). It will use a newer updated version of the theme patcher I use with WinToolkit.

Hi @Lego,

I tried the latest test built and the result was the same.

I would like to mention an important detail.

After the system is installed, "Windows 8.1 Lines" theme is manually chosen without a problem. WT's Theme patch seems to work fine. I think the problem is with the way i apply the third party "Windows 8.1 Line" theme with the Win ToolKit. In short, I cannot succeed to add the theme to WT correctly. :shy: What this succes process for add windows line theme 8.1 add with WT?

Do you think i should open a new topic for this issue?

The toplc title such as "How to add mare-m's "Windows 8.1 Line theme" with WT and how to choose a "Default" theme?"  :)

I'm assuming you restart before the 'manual' choosing of the theme?

I will move this thread to the bug section

Yes, I did.

I tested with Build v1.4.38.2 but the result was the same. The system was installed as the screenshot that i gave in the beginning of the topic.

I would be happy if you look at the folders and test them. Can you try to add one of these themes with WT and let me know?

* The theme that i use and want as default: http://www.datafilehost.com/d/cae4238b

* The folders and files of the theme to copy to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes: http://www.datafilehost.com/d/72384133

So basically, if the machine restarted. It would work fine?

The problem is not about re-start.

I tested in both virtual and real computer twice. The results are the same all the time. WT does the theme patch, but it seems to have a problem while adding theme in the current OS.

On the VM, can you please go to uxtheme.dll in the system32 folder and tell me the file version please? 6.3.x.x

I will just patch those files directly so it doesn't have to do it at RunOnce. :) Thanks.

OK. Next test build will directly modify those files for you offline. So hopefully it should work. Prob won't be released until 9-10pm tonight GMT time.

I will be happy if this works.

This problem bothers me in last three months. It is interesting that none else reported this problem till now. Don't you think this is a bug?

The fact is.. The theme is not set as default and applyed before restart and even after, because the patch needs to be activated after display driver is installed ! this is my opinion !

The theme is there in Preferinces but something is not set as it should be , we need to set it manually and after restart is applyed ! Some installments from alienware for example, do this job !

I guess we can do the same with a little help from you Lego ! :)

Try build 3, are you using an x64 or x86 image? :P

x64 :icon_cool:

I prefer that it works without a problem in both of them :fun:

Hi, @Lego

Unfortunately build 3 wasn't succesful. the taskbar of the theme still has the classical appeal. :shy:

If you want and have time tonight, you can connect with teamviewer and solve the this problem fast :type:

My opinion is ; the patch and theme in the same time , must be installed first at the first restart before Starting RunOnce ! And all will be fixed !
