NIM Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Anyone using Objectdock?? Does is use so much RAM?I never used it but I heard that it's really heavy on consumption of system resources. Quote
Kelsenellenelvian Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 When I used it the **** thing took up lots of resources.... Quote
skorch41 Posted June 21, 2007 Author Posted June 21, 2007 o that's bad.. i was thinking of installing it but now i don't. lolthanks! Quote
VastoLorde Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 i recommend rocket dock wich has more skills than object dock.. the only problem is that you only can run once of it.. the good news is that it consumes very low resources of RAM see ya! Quote
DMHolt57 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) ObjectDock only uses 1% of my ram, I love it. Here is a set of Dock/Folder icons i created using Paint.net and IcoFx. Merged format of 48x48 and 256x256 for use in XP and Vista as dock icons or shortcut folders on the desktopGet them at Wincustomize Edited August 25, 2007 by DMHolt57 Quote
WolfX2 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 those are quite nice DMHolt57thanks for sharing Quote
JurgenDoe Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) I'm using RocketDock...first of all it uses a minimum on resources and second it is better as ObjectDock :icon_cool: Edited October 21, 2007 by JurgenDoe Quote

CaptTechDude514 Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 From what I remember, Object dock never took up too much RAM. I formated my computer so now I dont have it, but this isnt a real change in RAM/CPU usage here.REMEMBER: The more docks/icons in dock/effects you have, the more CPU and RAM it will consume. Quote
Mr.McNally Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I haven't used object dock. I was always concerned about resource usage. I have been using rocket dock(thanks to Ricktendo64) and I love it. It seems to respond faster than clicking on system icons directly. I dont notice any resource usage, but not having used object dock I may be comparing apples to oranges here. :welcome: Quote
Island Dog Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 (edited) I have used ObjectDock pretty much since it came out, and have never had a problem with it. I jumped at the chance to upgrade to the Plus version, and it makes my work so much easier with an organized desktop. Resource usage is very low. I recommend trying it out. spidyr2k Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 My vote for RocketDock. It can use the same themes as ObjectDock. Fun and easy customizations. Quote
ricktendo Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I don't like the objectdock's secondary dock (whatever thats called) Quote
JurgenDoe Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I'm sticking with Rocket Dock ... like it much better then Object Dock :icon_cool: Quote
eamon63 Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 i am running objectdock 1.9free (no tabs), consumes about 5 MB, has kkmenu and stacksdocklet...also have RK Launcher and Y'z dock, and both use almost same resources. I guess it's a matter of taste, and the number of items docked. Quote
