I will investigate now. Will be hard without a computer with Windows 7 :P

Can you provide a screenshot please? Does the update say anything when you put your mouse over it?

I can confirm the issue. I fixed it by updating DISM using the latest ADK. I swear it used to work before so must be either an 8.1 thing or 8.1 Update 1 thing.

OK, with Installed AIK Version from 8.1 under Windows 7 it works (1.4.44.1!)

But someone who doesn't know that, what they do?

Your sofware must check the DIM Version and say yes or no.

I would integrate both DISM Versions in wintoolkit and Wintoolkit must check,

which Version he must use

You need never Dism to process windows 8(.1) images on Windows 7 host, just install Windows 8.1 ADK Update 1 (Only deployment tools are needed from it) and thats it.

Windows 7 Dism isnt compatible with Windows 8.1, but windows 8.1 Dism is backwards compatible....

Can Windows 7 DISM work with Windows 8.0 though? :)

Nope...it wont work...

Hence, thats why the request was made (and also fullfilled by you) to be able to choose what dism.exe to use...built-in or ADK one ;)

I see

A newer Version of DISM is available which allow you to work with Windows 8 .............

You must write It is Windows 7 and 8.1 etc. compatible or?

The DISM Update Link works ;-) all OK ;-)
