DO NOT REPORT BUGS IN HERE!

The final version of the v1.x series has been released. My university degree depends on v2.x being successful, so I will be putting all my effort into that.

Bug Fixes

The only future releases of v1.x will just contain bug fixes.

I've added more logging to help detect this.

Changelog

*1.5.1.1^FIX: Fixed Google default search provider saying corrupted

It does still say that something 'unknown' is trying to change your default search provider when you first load up IE. You just click 'Change'. It's one of the yellow bar things at the bottom so it isn't or popup or anything.

I've mostly been working on updating the exclusive ISOs. Just waiting on one more upload to finish with 2 hours left apparently. So I thought whilst I wait for 30GB worth of uploads that I would enhance v1.x some more.

Here is what to expect in test 10:

  • 1.5.1.10^NEW: Cleanup Manager (WIM Manager, Unmount & Capture Image)
post-10183-0-49822000-1411835674_thumb.p
Just a bunch of common/minor things which can be removed. It also has 'Reset Base' for Windows 8.1 users. Can't remember any other DISM commands which you guys would need. This tool is available on Capture Image, WIM Manager and via a button on the Unmount screen.

  • 1.5.1.10^FIX: WIM Registry Editor cant move when saving/rebuilding.
I noticed that during mount/unmount/rebuild on tools such as WIM Manager, WIM Registry Editor, etc.. You couldn't move the window. Now you can,

When Win Toolkit loads an mounted image into the list. It will start calculating its size in the background. I will be using CCEnhancer to find some more whilst I wait.

Since tomorrow is my last day of programming on WinToolkit v1.x, apart from bug fixes of course. I will be adding something that you guys will LOVE. It will speed up adding updates and integration too :D

Basically I'm just rounding off some edges and adding some stuff that I've been wanting to add for some time.

So cleaner can all these?

/cleanup-image
/startcomponentcleanup
/resetbase
/spsuperseded
/restorehealth

Folder for exceptions:

%recycler%

C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information

C:\Program Files\Uninstall Information

Posted

It only does:

Windows 8.0: 'DISM.exe /Image:%MOUNT% /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup'

Windows 8.1: 'DISM.exe /Image:%MOUNT% /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase'

Windows 8.1 'DISM.exe /Image:%MOUNT% /Cleanup-Image /SPSuperseded'

I recommend checking for %MOUNT%\Windows\winsxs\pending.xml

if exist, StartComponentCleanup process will not work

and regarding SPSuperseded, it's useful only for Win7 RTM + SP1

i don't think we will see Service Packs for Windows anymore :P

Thanks I will add that check.

According to MSDN SPSuperseded is for Windows 8.1 :/

EDIT: Released test 12 with your suggestions.

I've released v1.5.1.13. Mostly because of the settings.txt error and the other bug fixes. Also I need as many error logs for tomorrow evening to sort though and releasing is the best way :P

Morning.

You can't use it with All-In-One Integrator. Assuming you mean to apply it to all of the images you selected.

The tool was original added to Capture Image but since it required next to no effort to add a button onto WIM Manager and the Unmount Screen. I decided to do so. The options will be in v2 though.

Right then. I've written down a to do list for today on my whiteboard. Gonna do some Yoga and take myself out for a cooked meal. Once back. I will beast through that to do list.

After that I will only do bug fixes for Win Toolkit v1.x.

P.S. Does anyone actually know if /NORPFIX when capturing images makes a difference? Is it necessary? Does it affect size?

Posted (edited)

Yes it makes an important difference regarding how junction points and symbolic links are captured / managed inside the wim
don't know the exact details or behavior, but the option RP_FIX is always set in microsoft releases (all wim files), that should be a strong clue :P

Edit:
here's a clear explanation i think:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/zhou_minxiao/archive/2007/04/05/what-is-norpfix-switch-and-what-does-it-do.aspx
so, it's necessary, but neither two options affect size
